You can call a "fair catch", basically saying theres no way I will be able to run without getting the **** knocked out of me. A fair catch just says that is where the ball will be (IE: He catches the ball on the 15 yard line, calls fair catch, then the 15 yard line will be where the next play will be played) and you are not allowed to take more than 2 steps once you catch the ball, and the other team can not tackle you. If you take more than 2 steps then they consider it that you are running, and your a.s. s  is fair game  :t. Thats what happened.

He could have taken a knee in the endzone meaning the same thing. Once he crossed the goal line all bets were off. lol
