CPU Running hot

Well,I got an AMD Phenom II X4 940 BE CPU and notice that it's running pretty hot,around 50C. I don't know how this would compare to the old mobo/CPU because it was all locked up by HP.  I am running it with the stock cooler,and just wanted to know if idle temps around 40-50C with the side panel on were normal.

For idle thats pretty hot IMO, but at full load it shouldn't be anything to worry about.

I don't know how hot it should run, but it wouldn't hurt to lower it some.  40-50C won't kill it, but cooler is usually better.
My AMD usually run 30-35 idle, assuming the readings are correct, but I keep it cool in the house and case.

Some things to make sure aren't a problem:
-Insufficient Thermal Paste/Grease
-Insufficient Airflow in case
-An Overclock of the CPU (in which case heat will happen)
-Hot ambient temperature (inside and outside case)

I had to replace my motherboard and CPU, I ended up buying a unlocked tricore AMD 2.4.
Newegg had a sales price I couldn't resist at the time for the CPU.It runs warm with stock HSF. I find in the high 40's toward 50. When I tested under prime 95 after awhile temp was going toward 60. In my presonal opinion the stock HSF from AMD are not very good. I was using speed fan for my observation.
I will be installing my after market typhoon cooler and using artic 5 paste, reinstall side case fan when I get time. This I am sure will solve the problem.

The reports that I have read, being a builder myself, is that the stock cooler sucks, get ya a KATANA, or something with some pipes to cool it down 50 at idle isn't horrible but it isn't good either. I always replace stock coolers with aftermarkets, even the cheapest aftermarket is usually better than the stock one.

alright,I'll look into this one and read some reviews and what not,I am kinda looking into liquid cooling though but I think the only way I will do that is if I can find a little chiller or mini AC compressor type thing to get the coolant nice and chilly
