Bigplay,
There are plenty of aircraft approaching stock configurations. That seemed to be the market direction after years of stripping them down to save on gas and race at Reno. There will always be the Reno racers, but those are not going to be the market direction any longer. Spending $3-4 million to win $100k is not a money making proposition and the true bragging rights are in aircraft that are truly gems like the FHC collection and aircraft that are original. In case you do not believe me, ask Mr. Lewis next year why he spent so much on GG.
The truly unique aircraft out there though are those that are on their way to coming on line now. Many are hidden in secrecy because the rumor mills are just so bad with any small amount of facts released that the owners of these aircraft just choose not to release any and save on headaches. In the next five year period, the amount of truly authentic restorations flying will likely double and possibly triple. Those are going to be the amazing aircraft out there.
