WARNING, another way to lose 200 perkies!!!!!
« on: October 17, 2001, 03:55:00 PM »
<S> aces,

Right - spent all my perks in the 262. 1 lost due CTD, 1 due killshooter (hello my mate Glasses), 1 due collision... so far so good. I really worked hard for 1 week to afford me another one.

Took her off along Spincyc today. Dove into a low B17 popped it, received some pings, checked dmg list - ouch pilot wounded. Ok, RTB then... let her down perfectly on the runway in blackout... safe landing  :D

Meanwhile Spincyc lost his vert stab in lvl flight with no cons around (overspeed??!?) He made the ditch in a flat spiral (WTG!!) I wanted to see that and "joined" him with the *.join XXX" command. Now I stare at the downed Schwalbe and have a good time. He exits so do I - end up in tower "LAST SORTIE -200 PERKS" WTF????????? Now that's really off - I DEMAND my perkies back!! And does that mean I can join Fester in flight to share his perks from a 20 kill sortie???

WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH - another week of furballing 'till I can enter my precious little jet again... tsk... really p*ssed now!

observer mode is screwed up.

if your host bails near enemy it will give them 2 kills instead of 1.

same deal in gunner mode.

pretty lame.

and if you disco in field gun you give enemy a kill.
Fester was my in game name until September 2013

Another good way is to attack a Turnfighter from the 6, close in fast to 1000 yards only to see him turn around going for a HO/Colission. Freaks me out, lost vert stab in the 262 that way last night. At a 1000 yard with a speed of 550Mph I didn't have anough time to avoid him turning right at me. Lost vert stab but he lost it all.

I've lost 1 262 to-date.  Dove in on a mossie who was tailing a squaddie.  The mossie spots me, chops his throttle and pulls up into me as I blasted over his canopy.  A short ram later, I am minus a wing.    Whereas I will of course try kill any perkie that wants to mix it up.  I get no pleasure from taking 200 points off someguy who may have spent ages working for his perkies.  Seems many other people do  :( and are prepared to do just about anything to deprive you of your points.

S! ya 262 Devils

The collision described here reminds me of a discussion on the collision system not to long ago. Where I described the impossibilty of trying to avoid a BnZ collision against a slow plane that cuts throttle and turns into U when U approach it from the high six. It was generaly pointed out to me to be my error (the BnZ plane) and that I should have anticipated enough space to BE able to pull away if I see this happen. Main problem is that you need to approach your target to say 700- yds to get any rounds into it. In a BnZ scenario from the rear, 700- yds will not give U much lateral spacing to avoid collision at a speed 550 mph.

The additional problem here is that even if you 'win' the collision U also lose 200 perks if the 262 is too damaged to make it back. Hence I don't BnZ from the rear anymore, I go for a lead shot in a BnZ scenario from 4 oc or 8 oc (high or not) where I will pass the con in his rear quarter after the lead shot. (P.S. dangerous against very good Bomber gunners)

Hello folks.
I did not yet fly the 262 in the MA.
(Still waiting for a perked spit14 to show up, - saving my points)
I thought this thread was a good place to present a point about perk balance.
Have you noticed how a "high" perk plane gets chased everywhere. It´s like a magnet, so strong, that some ppl use it tro draw attention while i.e. sneaking a base.
As soon as perks get lower, this is not so evident.
So, what I wanted to say is, that those planes are too high perked, like about double what they should be. Result: perk planes are a rare sight, they get chased and ambushed, and many fliers only have a chance flying  them in tha T.A.
There are perhaps also unperked candidates, and many perk planes to come later also, so I think it is about time to revise the system.

It was very interesting to carry out the flight trials at Rechlin with the Spitfire and the Hurricane. Both types are very simple to fly compared to our aircraft, and childishly easy to take-off and land. (Werner Mölders)

That's weird, I had something similar happen but not in the 262, nor in the join.  But, something equally odd.

I was in a Panzer, shelling a city we were going to capture.  I was straffed, lost a track, then another guy dove in and finsihed me off.  Can't recall his name but he did a good job.

2 bases away (and several minutes later, after visting the potty), I grab a P-38, hit the runway, hear pings and die.  No cons anywhere near.  WTF?

Well, maybe I can't see the con, but its the same guy who is 2 sectors away getting the credit for kill?

I try from another base, grab a Lanc and hit the runway.  Ping ping ping and explode.  Same guy gets kill.  Huh?

How can the same guy, in 3 seperate areas, get me?

I re-logged, but prior to doing so, my net status was perfect.
