Ok the info as requested on RF-S, Spitfire V AB824 of Sgt Marian Belc
Sgt Blec flew this Spitfire on 24 oct 1941 when he claimed his seventh confirmed kill ( a Bf 109E) between Calais and Cap Gris Nez at 1510 (3:10pm).
AB824 was lost on 4 April 1942 whilst being flown by Flt Lt Zbigniew Kustrynski who, being bored with his Ops Room posting, had joined his parent squadron on a mission. Attacked near St Omer, he claimed two FW 190's before his Spitfire was hit. With a glycol leak and no chance of getting back to Britain he force-landed in France. AB824 was recovered and apparently later used by the Germans.
This information is from Osprey Aircraft of the Aces * 21 "Polish Aces of World War 2" by Robert Gretzyngier and Wojtek Matusiak
I would like to add I have several of the Osprey books, ranging from the different Aircraft ones down to Norman Knight, The Vikings and others and I find them to be great books that are easy to read, give plenty of detail and give quite a few color templates and pictures. I highly recommend them to anyone who is interested in military history, they cover a wide range of topics from uniforms, vehicles, aircraft, armies and battles plus periods from Ancient to Modern
