'Realistic' combat anime : add to the list
« on: September 18, 2009, 08:09:40 PM »
Every now and then one finds little jewels of anime that show very realistic technology in the show.

Below is a list of a few I've found. Please add to the list :)

- Tactical Roar : Your typical 'girl' anime when it comes to character -plot interactions... what makes this anime hit this list is that its a future tech- AEGIS type cruiser with an all-female crew (yes there is some fanservice) .. in combat most of the time. URRAH

- Zipang : A copy of the old 80's movie where the US carrier NIMITZ was thrown back in time to WW2... except this time its a Japan Defense Force Aegis cruiser that gets thrown back into the middle of the battle of Midway. This anime is top-notch. Warning : Yes, it shoots down many US planes and sinks a US carrier. All in self-defense of course :P

- Starship Operators : This has to be THE most realistic spaceship anime.. heck MOVIE .. I've ever seen. Just ignore the mandatory 'warp' drive of any scifi spaceship film.. and you'll enjoy watching this show. newtonian physics are respected, weapons behave as they would... just wow. The plot? A starship crew's home planet has to surrender before being overrun and the crew on the ship decide to fight on. To do so they get the support of a major 'tv' network and makes the ship's 'story' into a reality TV show.  :aok

- Library War : Urban combat/subterfuge.. in a world where libraries wage war vs. the gov. forces. Weird backstory but.. heck its fun to watch.
