from their icon i see 2-3 k

GV icons are not displayed past D1.5K at all.

Furthermore, the absolute maximum distance Wirbelwind shells do exist in AH are ~1840 yards. They just vanish at that point. And if yuo don't believe that, it's easy to check this in TA or offline with .target. (And no, there is no arena setting that could change this range in any way)

It is absolutely impossible to hit anything with a Wirbel at 3k yards distance.

I only see 1.5k from them, but it might be my settings IDK bout that

And for him to get ya like that was nothing but pure luck on his end

I agree for the first time it has happen.  But there are other time i got hits that high to.

Why?  No one has provided any credible evidence as to why the Wirbelwind needs to be perked, just like no one has been able to provide credible proof as to why the Spitfire Mk XVI needs to be perked.

Look, If you die by a GV while in a plane. Then you messed up. You got too close. As Lusche said. Take a bomb and get it over with. Stop with the  :cry :cry :cry and deal with it. You die, YOUR BAD.Dont fly as close next time.

Yeah, it has almost 2 kills for every death at the last example you've given. And the same argument can be extended to bombers. Bombers aren't going to kill you if you attack them. They will if hold still, and fly straight at D300, but you won't die just because you chose to attack them. I can easily deal with the guy that flys strait. The guys that move, yes, but less so, and the guys that come in at 400mph, shoot up my bomber, and then fly around to make another pass are the guys that usually make it home. The same applies to the wirb: Don't circle around at 2k, 100 feet from the wirb, in your A6M with basicly no armor.
