A new cv
« on: September 21, 2009, 04:28:18 PM »
Would it be too difficult to add a submarine ?
If so , how about the german v boats ?
they were stronger and faster than most brit ships

Hmmm, stronger than most british ships is an interesting claim for a
patrol torpedo boat.  It was metal <at least the S-100 class was> as opposed
to the Vosper and Elco Allied PTs.  At least I think that's what you're talking
about..the Schnellboot or what the Brits called the E-boat.

Also aren't the fleets moving at around 33 knots.  The max most WWII subs could go was around 10 knots while submerged.

Still trying to figure out why the title is "a new CV", and then the OP doesn't even mention a CV?

Just so this wish has something related to CVs . . . I wish the fleets in the Mid and Early arenas had their levels of ack reduced to what was more typical in '43 and '41, respectively, rather than the '45 levels we seem to have in game.

Submarines would take a complete redo of the water makeing it clear. How hard would that be to estimate youre alt over the water then?? If the water was not clear then one person could sit at a port in a sub and sink cv's all day and night. Unless the U-boats stayed ontop of the water unable to submerge. They spent months adding water reflections and animated water. I just dont think they would wanna reverse all their work to make the water clear. Just sayin

Thre would be basically 2 choices for an IJN CV. First would be the Taiho class CV http://navalhistory.flixco.info/H/90262/8330/a0.htm http://combinedfleet.com/ship.php?q=taiho_c.htm  http://ww2db.com/ship_spec.php?ship_id=A20

Next would be a Shokaku class CV. http://navalhistory.flixco.info/H/89980/8330/a0.htm http://combinedfleet.com/ship.php?q=shokak_c.htm
http://ww2db.com/ship_spec.php?ship_id=23 http://ww2db.com/ship_spec.php?ship_id=24

My guess is it would have to be the Shokaku because it was at PH and at least one of the two was at every major battle of the war, "tho strangly neither was at Midway". Enjoy the Links. :salute

Rich, why would in "have to be" one of those two types?  When we already have an Essex carrier in all arenas when it didn't even exist in EW period...
Sho and Zui, weren't at midway because they were detailed to the Coral sea Op... They were either damaged or had their aircrew depleted..
And the IJN op sched didn't allow for time to refit...

Because these two types also were their "Best" Carriers as well. At least of those designed from the beginning to be CVs.

I'd say use Hiryu, one of only two carriers with the island on the port side to screw with the newbies. :D
Ron White says you can't fix stupid. I beg to differ. Stupid will usually sort itself out, it's just a matter of making sure you're not close enough to become collateral damage.
