Diplomacy
« on: September 21, 2009, 11:11:30 PM »
Years ago, a few of us here occasionally played Diplomacy via email using one of the judges.

The last couple of days, I've been thinking I'd like to play again and checked the Diplomatic Pouch to see what kind of advances have been made with software. Lots of software available, but it's still email driven. Was really hoping for something a bit more user-friendly.

So... back to Google and I discovered PlayDiplomacy.com.

This looks promising!

Anyone interested in a game? Be warned... it could last months.

I remember that and I was also thinking about it recently!

I am interested in playing, either way looks good. The old way or the new link you provided!

I really enjoyed the 1861 World Game. I didn't last very long but I had a fun time with everyone from the Oclub. That would be another fun game!
There must also be a flyable computer available for Nefarious to do FSO. So he doesn't keep talking about it for eight and a half hours on Friday night!

Holy cow, that looks challenging. Does everyone agree to a certain game set or just play them all?

That could take weeks just for one set of moves to go through especially if there are slackers involved.

I thought it was one move every week? I could be wrong maybe every couple days. If you don't set up moves in time, you basically lose your turn.

Typically, a turn takes three days but that can be set to anything. Then the adjustments and whatnot... You're looking at a week or so each move.

Oooh, I want to.  Good memories of those games.  Unfortunately, I'm about to take 3 weeks with limited internet access... maybe the next one.

Whoa. Other than being a total nublett that's never played before, I'd be interested.

I've played games that have lasted six months.
