Team Speak will not transmitt in game
« on: September 23, 2009, 08:03:04 PM »
Since last week, we have two guys that can no longer transmit on Team Speak when in the game, but they can hear us fine.  They can minimize the game and they can transmit fine as well; bring the game back up and they can no longer transmit.  For what it's worth, the in game VOX seems to work normal for them.  Has anyone else run across this and if so what was the fix?

I'm just curious as to why you would use Team Speak instead of the in-game VOX?  TeamSpeak would be an additional program running that would seem to use resources that your system could use.  I've never used that program and I am just curious about your justification for using it.

if they are running Vista get them to run TS as administrator.  Ventrilo does the same thing for vista users.

doc in game vox is pretty pants compared to a 3rd party one such as TS or ventrilo.  We have used the latter for the past 5 years and the difference is night and day.  They aren't resource hogs so make little difference.  Unless you have a ghetto PC.

Bruv, I sent the boys an email to have them make sure they are running TS as an Administrator; I'll let ya know if that works for them.  Also, Jay, the difference between Team Speak and VOX is amazing, the squaddies sound like they are sitting next to you they are so clear.

that is true for some reason.  teamspeak and xfire for some reason sound way better than the ingame vox.  and another advantage is that several players can talk at the same time, where as in ah only one person can talk at a time. and xfire has a open mike option where you dont have to press a key to talk.  then again this are just options, some people like them, some other  dont.

Lol... I'm not sure that option would be a good thing for me as I might be cussing one of my squaddies for something or other that I would have been talking to myself.  Yeah, I do that on occasion and sometimes even answer too. ROFLOL

Bruv, having them make sure they were running TS as the administrator did the trick, thanks for the help. :salute

Aces High uses a rather low-bandwidth codec for its voice system which stems from it having to work for anyone and be transmitted through a host that's feeding everyone.

My only problem with those applications is that I cannot see who's talking. I tried using TeamSpeak Overlay back in Stalin's Fourth but gave it up after my computer crashed three times.

try xfire.  the neat function about it is that you only talk to the people you invite in our squad there's only 5 of us so it worked really good.  for bigger squads, it probably be too confusing.   U can also use the ah to talk to everybody else.  never had problems with xfire.

I like using both TS (for squad) and vox (range) - I think they compliment each other well although I do think Vox qualiity is pretty bad. The "hands free" aspect of TS is a big plus and also the ability to add a variety of extras with "Teamspeak Overlay" - on screen time and Frame rates etc etc.

FYI at least 3 of our squad have had TS issues in the past few days. Initially working but once into AH unable to transmit - audio was OK  tho. seems to have fixed itself recently. ( I find a 3lb ball peen hammer waved menacing works wonders on PC probs)  :D
