Gyrene you don't know the half of it.

I've noticed the numbers down in MW too. Might be going the way the AVA did.

Yep.   Gyrene check your PM's

That's just sad too. All the people whining about the hoardes, gang bangs, furballs, etc...in the LW arenas...and the 3 arenas with the best possibility of "good fights" and decently matched ac lineups sit mostly empty.

I wonder if there would be a significant change if HTC pulled the early and mid war ac out of the late war arenas...(there would be exceptions of course)...like if it's active in the MW arena, disable it in the LW arenas? Or maybe use mid-1943 production as the cutoff?

From what I've read, that's currently being caused mostly by the people that sit in there and spill garbage all over the text buffers. Many players new to the arena seem to be getting turned away after being in a fight, then getting trash-talked to death.

Then again, IO haven't been in there in a very, very long time. All hear-say.

I agree on the matchups in MW. I used to fly there most of the time.

I don't see them pulling early and mid war birds out of LW. They were all available at the end of the war... just many were in limited use.

You mean there isn't more trash talk in the LW arenas?  :O

It must just be me then, I don't see anything like that when I'm in. It's like everyone's concept of a HO, some say it takes 2 and others say it only takes 1...with trash talk, if there is only 1 side to the conversation, it's just one idiot talking to himself.

Well, at the same time, griefing is much more prevalent, which is what I used to experience way back when. Get in an equal fight with the guy, kill him, do it again, kill him, so then he gets pissed and follows you everywhere, vulches you on landing, rocket-kills you when you try to take off, and generally messes with you until you just wanna go back to hoarding.

It's much easier to single someone out in an arena of 15 players than 200 or 400.

Goes way beyond trash talk. Trash talk doesn't even register on the scale.

me.....i talk to the person i just fought. if i won, i try to offer help..after a salute....if i lost, i'll often ask for advice on what i did wrong...also after a salute.
when i ask for advice, i'll generally do it via pm, so the trash doesn't start flying.......one of the more recent times was against stang. he seems like one helluva nice guy. kicked my arse a couple of times 1-1. i kinda sorta picked him one time.....came into the fight skimming treetops, saw a 109 turning hard, showing it's whole belly to me.....so i fired off a burst.....turned out 2 countrymen were on him, but i was so focused i only saw the 109. i pm'd an apology to him, and he said don't worry bout it, it's all good.
gave some decent advice for 38 vs 109 too.  :aok

Ah...ok I get it now. Never have understood the mentality that has a need to spoil "mindless fun".

Every time I take of I expect to get shot down...always someone around who is 10 times better than me...no need to get all worked up over something considered inevitable. You're just wrecking your own experience...get shot down 10 times in a row? Log off, take a break...come back when you're ready and try again. Seems simple to me...but then I'm old.

Stang is a great person.   He'll ALWAYS be there to help you in better understanding, what you can do/can't do.   Of course, there's those nights on 200 when he's getting "spooled up for bowling".

Personally, IMO the only reason there aren't more people in the MW is the lack of uber planes...guess you can't have "good fights" without the uber planes can ya.

"Uberness" or lack thereof is always relative to rest of any given plane set.

I feel like the guy who kills a HurriIIC with a P-47D-40 under reasonably equal circumstances has done a whole lot more Sierra-Hotel flyin' to get his, but I guess ya go to go on a case-by-case basis.... ;)

I went to mid-war last night, it was interesting to say the least. Was accuse of picking a P-51 in a B-25. Wish I had saved the video. Priceless!
