The Tempest
« on: October 04, 2009, 04:42:39 PM »
I'm not big on taking perk planes up but i thought i need a good way to use my many fighter perks,so the one bird i will take up that's a perk bird is the tempest, lots of fun but,i have taken it up three times lately and have got pilot wounded twice ,once by puffy Ack (big surprise) and the other was a pony,d on my six at 600 out.So is this just bad luck so far,or is the tempest bad for getting pilot wounded?Needless to say this is burning my perks, but i hate to spend 60 perks to get a pilot wound.

Bad luck - the Tempest isn't particulary prone to getting PW's. But watch your huge radiator - stay away from field ack and be careful when attacking bombers.

Perked rides are bullet magnets; thus the probability for getting a PW is greater in a perked ride; therefore yes, Tempests are more prone to PWs than non-perked rides.

Luck had nothing to do with it (I dont believe in luck). The fifty cals on the pony have a pretty good dispersal at some ranges and then also some people tend to do a lot of flopping around and spraying when they shoot. The solution would be to avoid getting shot.  :aok

And the bullet scoop is so much more effective when doing a HO, which all Temptards do. How convenient.  :D

the tempest is a great plane.

It turns much better than many people give it credit for, its incredibly fast and has one of tyhe best gun packages is the game.

Ive only flown it twice.

Landed once and discoed once in it.

Its also pretty tough and can stand up to the ack on a base.

I was with Thorsim on that mission and remember just how Stoic he was after getting hit by that flak.  My wife won't let me use that kind of language.  I know how Thorsim and anyone who has experienced that flak feel.  In fact it happened to me tonight at 20,000 ft.
