Another Car Thread.....
« on: October 05, 2009, 09:34:24 AM »
Finally got some good pictures of my families dragster so I wanted to show it off....

I miss the actual driving that a door car needs but the rail is great at bracket racing.  Best 1/8 Mile to date is 5.42 @ 127.00 mph and its older than some of the squeakers on here.

 :D

1996 Carpenter Hardtail (215" Mild Steel) with a 406" Small Block Chevy and Powerglide. If anyone races in Florida or South Georgia we could meet up sometime. In case you didn't know I love to talk drag racing and racing in general.

 :x

Lets see em guys and gals....

ok, here's mine again.

68 camaro. it's almost all fiberglass. running a 540 chevy, with a turbo 400 tranny, dana 88 rear with 4.86 gears. has a transbrake, and a biondo racing delay box. that's all the electronics in it.

it was built in the early 70's by danny smith in camden nj. weighs 2600 and change with me in it. ran 9.9's with the old 454, and hoping for 8.9's or 9.0's with this engine.

my street car, but not done yet.
it has a fi 5.0L 5 speed, 8.8 rear with 3.73's, and motorsport frame connectors.

the engine has gt40 everything, 30# injectors, 70mm mass air meter, and throttle body, and i'm installing cold air under the bumper.

she's gonna be a lot slower than my camaro, but sooooo much more fun when the kids in their ricers can't figure out what the hell just hammered em.  :devil

If you ever get in a rut with the 1320, try getting into a couple driver's ed events at road courses.  Pocono isnt that far from you and they have two seperate infield tracks that use portions of the tri-oval.

If you love watching the ricers make excuses for losing to "old" American cars, you should see their faces when thier Hollywood-inspired FWD economy cars understeer into the grass.

Either way, its a hell of a lot of fun.  Think about that feeling you get running down the length at ATCO and multiply it by 15-20 minutes at a time.  ;)

i've been thinking about that. i have 2 friends that take their vipers up there when their club rents it, and a customer that takes his old 911 up there.

if i could make that fairmont go through turns well, i think it'd be a frakkin BLAASt taking that BUF through there.  :aok

i'm actually going to build an entire new instrument cluster for it. going to set up the guages like they were in 67-68 mustangs. then try to make it look factory. it should be pretty easy....and it will get rid of that "high school" looking tach.  :aok :rofl :D

nope.

if they even have to break a sweat(and they will) to take on a fairmont, there's nothing for me to be embarrassed about.  :devil

My point was ... introduce some corners and all you will see is the tail lights of the Porche.
