I'd say "Marilyn" (if I spelled that right) is a must-have.

Marion?

I'm sorry, I had the wrong name.  "Lorene" was the one I was thinking of.  Had a large profile of his girlfriend on the cowling.  Lots of pictures of that plane were taken I think.

Yep lots

Pylons removed

Even has her on his jacket :)

"Lt. Russell S Kyler. Huntingdon, PA. 61st Fighter Squadron. P-47M 44-21116 HV-J "Lorene" Lt. Kyler and S/Sgt. McGehee check out the repair job on two 20mm cannon shell holes. The shells took out two cylinders of the Pratt and Whitney R-2800 whilst Lt. Kyler was straffing an airfield near Muritz Lake, Germany on 10 April 1945. It says much for the ruggednes of airframe and engine that the a/c made it back to Boxted. This cowling panel with the painting was removed from his earlier P-47D HV-V to be fitted onto this "M" model. The original photo of Lorene from which the noseart was worked is beneath"

Looks like those flat 105 gallon tanks on both wings of Fireball.  Guessing there is one on the belly too.  Bet those M's drank fuel like no other jug :)

Lil'Snorkey would be neat to have. I live in Ohio, so it would be nice to fly an aircraft that a pilot from Ohio flew in WW2.  :aok

Edit: I notice there are no dorsal fins in the picture. Can you confirm that it is an M?

Bet we can fill it up, unlike the TA-152.  Of course alot of people spoke up for TA-152 skins over a year ago and so far no one else has done any.

Was the 56th FG the only one that flew the P-47M?

Yes. Only a bit over 100 were made, and a number of those were lost in training accidents, crashes, and whatnot (including teething problems where an engine might die and bring the plane down). Just saying "over 100 made" does not mean over 100 actually saw service, mind you. Probably only between 30-50 saw actual combat considering training losses, airframes out of service or in for repairs/maintenance, and so on.

Usually there's a ratio of flyable planes, and sometimes it's less than half the total planes available.

Skin choices will be interesting, but somewhat limited in variety. At least it answers the age-old question: "Can we do P-47M skins?"  :D :aok

M's were delivered with no dorsal fin.  The airframe was a P-47D-30 airframe, almost exactly like the D-25 we have in game.  The 56th added the dorsal fin once the aircraft were in theater.

According to Little Friends, the 56th had 100 P-47Ms assigned to it over the period they were equipped with them.
