Wow im horrible
« on: October 08, 2009, 09:14:25 PM »
I just started playing again after a long time and wow i got really really bad.

I cant hit anything, I blackout frequently and i am starting to hear the stall horn in my sleep.

I seem to have lost all of my skills.

Has anyone else lost their skills after time away from aces high or am i just bad?

Pretty normal. Good thing is they come back faster than it took to learn them. Or so I hear 'cause I have always sucked so suckin' doesn't matter with breaks.

Yep. Used to be that the Yak was my main ride. Got fairly proficient in it, but that was back when I had lots of time to play.
Times have changed, and I don't devote nearly as much time to this as I used to due to real-worldly issues, so I fly bombers much more as my fighter prowess is in the crapper.

Same thing happened to me except for the blacking out. Now after about a month, I'm better then bout half my (is it "our" now?) squadies. I hadn't really noticed large ammounts of blackouts, but then again I may just have a good memory and so it seems normal.

BTW is there any trick to keep from blacking out other than not turning so hard?

I tend to actually get much, much better after time away. No idea why. Slow downhill slide after that, though.

Blacking/Redding out is caused by putting stress on your body from pulling/pushing G forces. Generally that's caused by pulling a tight turn. So, no, not really much else to do about it.

Oh, OK. Heres what I did: I went into offline practice mode, and got adjusted to turning with the slow turning drones, and pulling lead on them. Its a good way to get used to turning again. And then once you got that down, try and pull lead on the next one while staying in place....

Has happened to me each time I go on any extended hiatus in this game. It's irritating but you'll bounce back quick.

I'm like some, I tend to get better after some time off. However, in my first 4 sorties back, I crashed into my prey 3 times.

Kinda like my getback, I couldn't aim worth toejam, and I kept crashing, but after about a week when I didn't screw up, I was better than I was before, lol does that speak badly of my skills?

It doesn't matter once you leave and don't touch a joystick for a while it all goes in the crapper. As long as you do something in a prop flight sim you can retain some semblance of appearing that you know what you are doing. I didn't touch a stick for at least a year and tried IL-2 series...couldn't hit squat...after about a week I was g2g and then now about 6-8 months later back in AH and at least nail a few kill hits on a plane or three.
