It's a small pub, out of the way and not well known by the general population, but all of the seasoned fliers know it. It is their place.
It's dimly lit, with a scratchy record playing on the Victrola, but I can make out the conversation -- and they are talking about all of us!
"Bah. They are a bunch of lightweights," says one. "Good only for capering around in about five aircraft out of the whole lot."
"Just the few late-war fighters is all -- the 'leet rides' they call 'em," says another shaking his head.
"I don't think they could handle planes like the A-20 or Il-2," says a third. "Not in Eastern-Front action." He takes a sip of beer. "Not enough gumption to fight it out and push forward in something like that -- not in Red Storm."
Well, I have to tell you that I don't believe it. I think that you folks can prove them wrong. There are some manly men and womanly women already signed up, and there are more such out there. More folks ready to sign up and to take the fight to the enemy.
Folks like *you*.
