the plane that gets you to the position you want to be at and has the firepower to destroy the target once there and the speed to get out of the position you were just in is the best plane in AH.

If I'm flying good the P-38L is that plane for me. but I'm ussually not flying good.

My personal favorite is the 190A8. I like its handling and I LOVE its weapons load! However, I think my favorite `Do It All Bird' would be the P-47-D30. I can't say which is Aces High `Best Bird' because it depends so much on your mission and your flying style.

Once again, comparing planes is almost always futile (though it creates masses of amusing discussions and arguments)so if you read all replies to this post you'll know exactly what plane excels in what. Personally I prefer P-38 for obvious reasons and sometimes a pony (though I still gotta put a lot of time and effort in it). And the Jug 25 as a fighter bomber, damn I love that paint job.

And bring the A-26 and Hurricane (MkIIC/D) to AH!!!!

Hmmm, suprised not a mention of the Yak...I'd never have believed it, but after flying it this last week it's made me a believer. At 16k and under it's a mean ride.

it isn't the best in any arena but it's second best in most

Take a P-51 with 4x.50, 2x500, and 6 rockets.  Go to the nearest enema field and knock out 4 or 5 acks, then commence vulching.  When you run out of ammo run back home like a little girl, with a whole bunch of really pissed spits and nikis following you the whole way.

For me, it really depends on the situation-

Base-defense: Scramble!
 I usually go for a 109G10.  This bird will get ya up to alt in a hurry, and give ya enough acceleration and decent handling to handle just about anyone.

Base-offense: Charge!
 I will usually take a P47D-25 for an offensive fighter sweep over the base, or the d-30 for jabo work (love them dive flaps!).  If there are a lot of Jabo's on the way, I'll usually take a D-25 and climb up and pick my fights carefully, then egress when the second wave hits.

Arena-Fighter Sweep: Basic trouble making over enemy territory  

 This is where I reach a paradox.  The -47D-25 with 3 tanks will get me pretty much anywhere, but for this mission I normally take the Mustang.  She climbs better then the Jug, and is more suited to the role.  Long legs too    Although there are some times I miss that extra pair of .50's.

Furball: The Dweeb in Me.  

     I've found that the 109G10 is probably one of the best planes to mix e-fighting with a furball.  The ranges are short, so you can stick that MG/151 right into their tail feathers and pull the trigger
