Could use some help for Laptop set-up
« on: October 09, 2009, 05:28:07 PM »
Well, with the AH con just around the corner I suddenly relized that I actually needed to update the version of AH on ye olde laptop.  Guess what?  I can get a whole 7fps!  Rather than say to ye olde ball-n-chain "Dearest of my heart, mother of my children, ye to whom I stayeth loyal forever.  Yea, verily; I needeth a new laptop posthaste." (and neetly side-steeping the evileye to boot)  I ask for help as to what I need to set the graphics properties for and what i should set the AH video settings at to achieve a playable frame-rate (need not be good, just playable; say around 20fps) so I may at least participate at the con.

I submit a dxdiag below-eth:

Minimize everything you can in the game.

Maximum Texture Size: 256.
Resolution: 1024x768
Uncheck, Detailed Terrain (if it is checked).
Move slider in the Graphic Detail panel more towards performance.
Make sure you have as few background processes as possible.
Disable all power management.

If you are bringing it to the CON, flag me down and let's see what we can do with it.  Er, I mean that constructively.  :)

I will have two extra systems with me at the Con and at least one higher end laptop.  Find me if you cant get your system running to a playable level.

No longer an issue with the netbook as the wife told me to go and buy a new laptop today!

I am still going to bring the netbook & let Skuzzy play with it if he likes.  i'll even buy him some beer while he does so; purely in the interest of "reasearch" of course.

You are an upstanding guy TD, nice that you are thinking of those that might be disadvantaged at the con.  You too get a beer on me.
