<S> Frame 2 Opponents!
« on: October 10, 2009, 08:53:25 AM »
<S> to the AK's for a great fight all around last night.

The 412th were stationed near A14 when we made contact with a huge group of 109s, 110s and Ju88s, what ensued was 50+ mile dogfight all the way to A7 which ended abruptly for me nose diving into the ground.  :o

There must also be a flyable computer available for Nefarious to do FSO. So he doesn't keep talking about it for eight and a half hours on Friday night!

<S> Nefarious and the Allied.  AKWxman but up a outstanding set of orders lastnight.  I called him on Sunday I believe and we went over the plan some.  I had him change a few things but the majority of it was him. :salute

I've been having a @#$%ty time this FSO....

Frame 1 I rearm after the rest of my squad is down, and promptly get attacked by THREE 110s with a 7k altitude advantage loitering near the field. Oh, and they actually had REAR GUNNERS shooting at me too!  :furious :furious :furious

Frame 2 we spot a formation of low Ju-88s with limited escort, and I rip both ailerons on my dive in before I can even fire a shot. So far my only highlight this tour was managing to get the thing home despite a late attempt by a 109 to finish me off as I'm on approach to the field.

Saxman,

There aint nothing worse than getting insta-towered THREE TIMES in a row by an A6M while flying a P38.  :aok

First frame, I got pwned by a Hurricane around 23k when I accidently went in the vertical, only to find 30+ RAF fighters on my six. Second frame, a Hurricane collided into me when he did a break turn on the deck. I was lucky to limp home on frame 2.

Sorry to hear about your unfortunate case of events Sax.

The 82nd has had a blast and wonderful success for our first FSO as a unit. It's been a pleasure flying these two frames and look forward to the final one this upcoming Friday.

Outstanding CiC duty AK's last night. Was a wonderful well thought out plan & set of orders. We barely saw any opposition and was able to do our ground attack duties with no interruptions. Big :salute to ORANGE for their outstanding fighter sweeps, they mowed the lawn for us to lay down the mulch.

I hear you Sax. My time has not been any better. Has nothing to do with design of course, just dumb luck. But it always helps to see posts and hear from others what a blast they are having, especially with any newer squads to FSO. :) Wagger shot me down for example. Never should have let him and his squad in FSO. ;)

Rolling Thunder encountered a similar group while stationed over A20. With so many planes up, we simply couldn't handle them.
Counting drones there was almost 100 planes, with close on to 40-50 fighters.  :O

Still say that formations are really overkill in this setup.

:salute talon and the 82nd. JG2 and The 44th ran into one heck of a swarm of hurricanes at a7, thankfully we got the majority of em low before you guys got their. I do like your comment about us mowin the lawn as well  :rock. I was trying to keep a hurry off a squadys 6 and lost track of my own 6, well the enemy found it for me and down i went  :(:salute to all that where their.

Good news is, I said before take off when briefing our guys...
"You see it's like this, if I were the Axis, this is what I'd do..."

Bad news is....they did just that.

I have to say a big thanks to the AK's for those orders , it was a very nice change of pace for us in Precision . We followed our Blue route in and the gracious and ever steady 68's sent reinforcements in the form of 68Slick , 68Slickjr , 68Zoom to assist in our mission to pave the way for the bombers . We no sooner than had grouped up when we ran into Spitfires at 25,000' from VF-6 and VFA-169 and one intense and desperate dogfight commenced . This thing went from 25,000' right down to the water and it was not easy , but it sure was fun which in my mind is the goal . I got dusted by Marshal when I augered myself in a low battle on the water . I really enjoyed it .

From II/JG-27 :salute to everyone who organized this FSO. Big  :salute to the Allied pilots too...I have the bullets a couple of you left in my plane if you want them back.  :neener:

The mass of 109s and 110s that took off under the lead of Stampf was an awesome sight. We were tasked with providing top cover in our 110s while the 109s engaged the majority of the intercepts. Saw some great action, and a few of us got to tangle with the intercepts as they blew through our formations at V83 and A9.

Saxman, my luck hasn't been much better than yours...first frame I auger my 109 from 15k after doing a stupid dive trying to clear a squadmates 6. Think about how those bomber formations would look if we had DO-17s or HE-111s instead of Ju-88s and Stukas.

Can't wait for frame 3...should be a lot of fun.
