New dmg model on the d9????
« on: June 07, 2001, 06:06:00 PM »
I know this is actually a gameplay issue but i couldnt access the gamplay forum, so i post this here.

Today after installing the patch i hoped into AH to fly just a few sorties.
1 was in a D9.
I got into a bad 4 to 1 situation, with a F4U closing fast. I scissored and managed to avoid any hits till he was at 200 yrds, than i cut throttle and started a barrel roll to force the overshoot. As the normal 0.5 cal dweeb, the F4U pilot sprayed and prayed and scored a single hit.

After the ping, my D9 started to roll at full power. I tried to counter, nothing, i tried to pull up, nothing, rudder no reaction. I looked around both wings the tail all was still there, i hit ctrl-D and the only dmg i had was a missing right aileron.

the only dmg i had was a lost aileron, normally nothing special, but it forced the complete loss of any control in the D9, and that cant be true.

i am 100% sure there was no other dmg, no stall and no spin, and also no "dont move your controls so rapidly" message

Was it a C-hog?  I don't fly the cannon arm types in AH but hear that the cannons can do major damage with one ping.  Maybe that was the case?

(adds)  Oh yeah, also if at less than 200 yards maybe that increases the damage exponentially.  ?

(2nd revision), well, maybe you saw 200 yards range and he saw less due to net lag?  Maybe a collision?  Maybe very close cannons?

I'm really done this time.

FWIW, I've noticed this a few times in the 190 specifically, I'll get hit and the same circumstances you describe happen, feels exaclty like I'm missing a wing, but as I look thru all my views I can see no visual indicators of damage.  Haven't played long enough to tell if it's a trend or not though...

Only way for you to die in a colission is when you see tha plane collid in you, if he's 200 yards away on your screen and he collides with you on HIS screen, he dies and you live.
Allso, if it had been a colission it would have shown up on the dammage list.
