The Yak-9U is a great plane, and you get to fly on the side with your fellow Greek!  :aok

Now that the caps have been filled:
A: Suggest and patiently wait/hope for Brooke and other CMs raise the side caps further and then be one of the first people to nab one of your preferred newly allocated spots.  This would be ideal so that you get assigned a spot and have forum access to side forums for the early planing and strategy development phase(s).
B: Prepare and a patiently wait for the first test frame (or frame that you can attend).  Show up early on the appropriate date for the event as a walk-on.  Walk-ons are welcomed, but sides and seats are first come first serve before they are simply assigned out in an orderly fashion by a CM... simplified: get there real early and follow walkon instructions.  If you get there early enough and make your desired preferences known clearly, then chances are more likely than not that you will be assigned your preference, though that is not a guarantee as walk-ons are extremely valuable to the scenario process by being assigned to the side and a group/seat that is in the most need of an able body for that frame.  Showing up bright n' early (about 60-30 minutes early) during the practice/beta frame though typically increases a walk-ons chances of being assigned and permanently attached to that group and that spot throughout the remainder of the scenario.

usual way is straight and level, drop the nose to dive, bring up to climb.  Not too high in a climb mind because better planes will catch you in the vertical.

If you get a head on pass have a quick spray, other than that DO NOT perfom any flat turn in any direction more than 90 degrees.  The Ailerons are only used to assist in making said opportunistic spray shots at passing enemies.  Engage WEP and nose down slightly at any sight of an enemy plane looking to merge  .

An extra tip to succeed in this aircraft, wait until a friendly or squaddie has the enemy plane tied up and then make your deadly slashing attacks.  Further to this you could even extend out of icon range before turning around just to confuse the poor guy, god forbid, having a dogfight!

If you find yourself in a perilious situation and your guard dropped resort to the (Doom tm) stick stir in the vain hope that the person following you is just as bad a pilot as you are  :aok
