Diaster spit16 vs 152 film
« on: October 11, 2009, 12:17:02 AM »
Hey Diaster if you are on here i said i woudl post the film. It appears from my perspective that your opening shot was head on. If it was not head on then my second shot was not head on either. I figured both were. Maybe we could argue that both were frontal shots or that even net lag makes us see different things. Anyhow, heres what i saw, so you may understnd my line of conversation after on 200.

Was some fun fights there with you and some others, was good to keep it civil too.

Neither one was strictly an HO but the second pass was a great shot!  :salute

IMO, thought the first was more of a HO attempt.  Great snap shot on the 2nd merge Bat!  As you said, if he hadn't taken that first shot you probably would've played it out a little longer.  At least the 200 chat was respectful.

Personally, both meet my standards for MA.

That being said, the first pass was a direct nose on pass with some lateral clearance and the spit had every intention of taking an intial nose on pass shot and lined up for it. The 152 did not for whatever reason.

The second pass, the 152 had the 6, the spit turned in, and the 152 took a snap shot with rudder blind. Anyone who flies any kind of 190 variant succesfully knows that shot is as standard as a high speed pass across a 6. It is also the last shot you take before extending and coming back once the two life bloods of aerial combat are established. Superior Altitude/Energy and Situational Awareness.

I would say over half my kills are on that shot alone, less than half are BnZ on their 6, and a few are just dumb enough to fly in front of me when im low and fast.

Only a fool turns a fighter without a wing man who has trained by your side and whose only job is to watch your 6.  Or a cartoon gamer in a spitfire.

Long live the 190 pilots!

First shot was pathetic :headscratch:........................secon d shot wasnt anything special but was not a HO , if he could have turned his nose on you he should have anyway even for a split second before going into another merge.

Nice shot Batfink! :aok

Glad to see you're making good use of Mutley"s gunsight.  :D

I noticed, the fashion now(not your case obviously) is to turn tracers off and HO everyone from far away...

I decided to turn my tracers off also, for some time. Not to HO, but to sneak in from behind and, at the last moment, yell SURPRISE!!! :x

So lame. Look if the head on shot was wrong, it would be locked out. Much as the shooting off your own tail in a bomber is from the stuka. Really you have a shot, take it.

Pretty sure Diaster wasn't 100% prepared for that merge.  I was fighting low on the deck and he was asking if I needed help.  I had told him to stay high  and maybe avenge me after I got killed, then while we were talking Batfink showed up.

Those were some fun - if highly stressful - fights there for a while.  <<S>> 71 Squadron

Watching film from both perspectives is the best way to tell. I know a lot of folks post pics instead of film. Pics do nothing to show what was happening before. Most of the time if I get hit in a HO shot I am already not nose to nose so a pic makes it look like it was not a HO. I've seen folks try to stand their spit, 109, or 190 on it's nose to get a shot at me trying to avoid the HO. Even mossies they stand on their nose. They miss and they are immediately at a disadvantage... but you have to make them miss.  :aok

Am I the only one who is greatly disgusted by the sight of someone flying a machine that is generally superior in all aspects of maneuver AND thrust weight responding or attempting to respond to an angle earned through ACM trickery by honking back on the stick to do a M.A.D. ho/attempted HO with Hispanos instead of simply doing a profiling/guns jink maneuver that has a very high chance of success and which probably leads to victory in a few moves for them?

It's called "laziness".   That is exactly what you're describing.

Thing is, its a loose-loose if the man in the machine sporting 2x20MMs and 1x30MM decides to spray back. Avoid being shot AND kill, theres the ticket.
