Is there a way to permenently disable the .join feature?
« on: October 18, 2001, 03:32:00 AM »
I find it annoying and dangerous when people ask to join your plane over and over and over. And its certainly dangerous when the pop up window appears, blockingyour view.

So:

Can the .join feature be disabled so its impossible for anyone to even try joining you.

Can you disable specific people from asking over and over by .squelching them?

BTW AH needs a more user friendly unjoin mechanism than "ALT F4", a .unjoin command would be much better.

Yes plz! Had some guy named KAKAKA try to join me about 50 times in the middle of a fight. Maybe a command like ".block XXXX"

As I've already said : if you are in a fighter  : just accept and squelch the guy.

the lamer will be bored as he will notice he  can't do anything and can't unjoin  :)

squelched he can scream ... but you won't care  :D

and last but good side effect : you won't be joined again by this guy  ;)

It exists, I've forgotten the darn dor command though. What it does is not removing the join abilty, it removes the anoying message that pops up though. Nothing worse then getting a big ugly message in the middle of the screen just as you're aboout to pop a N1K2  :D

The command your talking about is .showjoin, which will show the request in the text buffer instead of getting the popup window.

It would be very nice if this command was permenant so you didnt have to input it every time you entered the arena.

A.eject command WOULD be very nice as well for those who go nuts on you after you have allowed them to join.  :)

It sure would be nice if we had an autoexec.cfg file (like you-know-what game), so that these commands could be scripted and a permanent list of commands could then be maintained. Showjoin is not the only one I have to type in EVERYTIME!

Anyone ever notice that the likelyhood of disco increases as too the number of squelched individuals?  :D

I did something bad to someone. I was getting ready ot go to the store, so I set a P-47 on a climb. Before I left, someone asked to join me. I accepted and squlched him. Was gone about 30 min. Here he is in an empty plane at 31K talking to no one. He ALT-F4'd after I returned and said: "Boring flight, huh?"  ;)

I did the same to a dude who was asking to join anyone in a fighter.  Noone responded, so i assume, he began sending .join(s) to people.   So i gladly accepted in my long distance C47 run.......boring

You are suppose to READ the text buffer???   :D

Actually I don't even pay attention to channel one.  Well atleast until my CO says "Pyro so and so has been trying to talk to you for the last 10 minutes!"

But now that I think of it he also says that about Squad channel too.  Hey if you're not on rw with me I'm not TALKING!   :D

Squelch is a useful tool if you're not doing everything you can just to keep your plane in the air   :p
