I almost control of the car when driving to Vegas my wife said : "Look honey, F16s in a V formation". Actually turned out it was a lucky guess, on the plane type and formation, but 

I did have an ex in HS that learned every F14 unit tail markings, just to get my attention when visiting my bedroom naming my F14 collection units.

Reminds me of this cute girl at work, saw me looking at the AH website and said something about my "silly airplane game."

Just to be a smart-ass and cement my status as a non-dateable dweeb I asked her something like "Why do you think the P-38 was arguably more successful in the pacific  than the European theatre."

She replied "I dunno, but the spitfire was way more influential."

It turns out she was only familiar with the spitfire because her dad owned the Triumph? sports car of the same name.

Still, I was just shocked she even knew what conflict I was referring to, but from the Battle of Britain to the merlin powered mustang, her point is hard to dispute.

Better than one who gets pissy when you do and/or talk about it.  They will eventually get fed up and do something to retaliate.  It's still better to have them involved rather than plotting to get back at you in some way.
