CH Flightstick Problems
« on: October 15, 2009, 12:33:21 PM »
Hey hey!

Bought a CH joystick (fighterstick USB) to replace my Saitek X52.  Used it for about a year, and then it started spiking in pitch.  I could pitch downward no problem, but pulling back on the joystick caused a spike where the elevator would go to max nose pitch up.

Is there something you can do at home to correct this?  Tried calibrating in windows, with the CH program, and in game, no results.

Thanks!

Did you hit the wheel on the side by chance. Make sure that it is centered.

Yeah, I centered both wheels on the base.

I had  a similar problem with my Fighterstick. I use to have 0 (zero) deadband. I added just a very little bit of deadband in AH
advanced settings. Fixed my problem..

I have set it for a deadband as well as some dampening.  Still spikes as soon as I pull back on the stick  :frown:

If it's only a year old it is still under warranty.  Call CH and explain the problem.  You should be able to RMA it.

If it's past the warranty, or you don't want to be down during the repair time, you can buy spare parts from CH.  It's pretty easy to change out a pot, which sounds like what it needs.

you have a bad X axis potentiometer in your stick.  Depending on what they charge now for a replacement pot, it might be less expensive and less down time to order a replacement pot rather than having to RMA it and send it in.

Wouldn't it be Y axis?

yeah, I always get X and Y mixed up.  It would be the Y since that's the vertical axis.
