It was very interesting to carry out the flight trials at Rechlin with the Spitfire and the Hurricane. Both types are very simple to fly compared to our aircraft, and childishly easy to take-off and land. (Werner Mölders)

Ah, sorry, no, Hamilcar is just as good, better I suppose due to gv loading, though I don't know how many were used that way.

The two most commonly-used gliders in WW2 were the Airpeed Horsa and Waco CG Hadrian. Both could carry enough troops to capture the maproom, or carry a jeep and driver - enough for Aces High purposes, surely? If AH can model one glider, I vote for the Horsa.

If you want to ride in a DUKW head to Branson MO and the Ride the Ducks business. its kind of slow there since it got cold.

I think top speed on the water is 5 mph. on land 55 mph. but don't quote me on the water speed. I say skip em. getting stuck behind one on the street really stinks. they drive em slow. sorry for the thread hijack.

They were the tugs since they were being replaced with better aircraft. That said, the Stirling would probably do okay in AH, and prompt a phenomenally big bomb-bay and bombing options not available today. 60 bombs I heard somewhere. But that is another issue. Bottom line, we already have fine "pullers".
On top of that...if AH were to feature tugged gliders, it would AFAIK be the very first Online sim ever to do so. ONE STEP BEYOND!!! Maybe an interesting challenge for HT.  :rock

Just crossed my mind. The duck would probably be able to speed nicely on land.
I've seen them in action, and their landings were also much easier than the ones of the Higgins boat. Also took a ride in one but it was a post war "duck".
They are a bit high for the landing, you have to get of the sides. Still okay, and not as "open" as the Higgins boat. I was involved with loading people on stretchers on to a "duck", and while somewhat high up, it was no problem at all with a trained crew of 4 with others on the receiving end. I think we actually did it with only 2 people one time or another.
Anyway, a duck would carry enough troops, and be much faster than a tank in the world of AH

Id like the LST to work like this.. You make a mission and to 5-10 people can join the mission (however many tanks the LST's could fit). When the mission starts the LST moves to the desired point on the beach and those who joined the mission can drive off the ship. While you wait for it to hit the beach you can man the guns on it to attack stuff on the ground or protect from air attack.  :aok

Great photo's, to be able to drop a tank into a battle with troop transporter would be great, but I dont see it happening. :bolt:

This would be kinda cool.... have the Higgins boat get the troops to shore quickly, but the troops need to run in the rest of teh way...  I like it.  :)
