Fishing
« on: October 20, 2009, 09:49:27 PM »
A while ago in a thread I can't quite remember I posted some pictures from a friends king crab boat that I was hoping to work on this winter in Alaska. A couple people were interested in updates etc. Anyways, I won't be going up north this year, because I just bought myself a 52' dungeness crab boat down here! :rock

F/V Dare II built by George Calkins in 1944. It's an old wood boat. But it's a beast of a boat. Used to be a dragger. Of the many many solid boats Calkins built, he said the Dare was always his favorite. And I'm stoked to be the next owner in its history!

I'll post up some cool wildlife/fishing pictures through out the season. :)

Crew will vary, but Dano is coming down to work on it  :rock :rock :devil
Anywhere from 1 (me doing solo ling cod/salmon) to 4 (busy busy crab and halibut).

Cheesiest catch, no. But there might be some video.

The picture is where it sits right now in Newport, OR. That's the Yaquina bay bridge in the background. It's a really nice area

I'll need a Lt. Dan if we go shrimping this spring lol
Anyone can feel free to stop by :)

Nothing like the smell of diesel exhaust and saltwater.  :)  I've spent some time on a gillnetter in Kenai.  Good luck on your adventure.

Wondered what this was, so I Googled it...apparently it's an Aces High Community-only word. :D
