Ah, welcome to the PNW, (Pacific North West)... Unfortunately, ya got here just as the rainy season is starting...
LOL, it lasts long around here... Ya just missed one of the greatest summers we've had in years... It started early, and lasted long... I'm missing it already, but it just takes a little while to get my duck feathers all lined up... Then I can ignore the rain, (lol, it's a PNW thing).. We've still got a few good days to go tho, before it gets ugly...

Oh, there is lots to do, depending on what kinda person you are..  City boy or Country boy?
Personally, I avoid "Seattle" like a case of Herpes.. Can't stand the congestion, traffic, all that city crap... But if you are a city guy, that place is hoppin all the time... Easy to find events, thru the local media, tons of them...

"Seattle" covers a fairly large area... What area are ya in?

Welcome to the PNW.  As mentioned earlier you just missed a spectacular summer.  While you may get a tad damp over the next fall-winter-spring season, at least you won't freeze like you would have in the windy city.

Photographic opportunities abound in Seattle, from the better known places like the Seattle Center, Pikes Place Market, Seattle Gas Works Park and miles of waterfront, to less known nooks and crannies specific to the area.  A search for "Seattle" on Flickr should give you a lot of ideas.

And if you like sushi, check out Todai downtown for an all you can eat sushi feast.
Do not attribute to malice what can be easily explained by incompetence, fear, ignorance or stupidity, because there are millions more garden variety idiots walking around in the world than there are blackhearted Machiavellis.

I just got back from visiting family out in Seattle in July.

It seemed pretty nice, although I'm not much of a city person.  I have a 14 year old daughter, so had to suffer through an excursion in a vampire-laden area.  Apart from the hype over there, it was a pretty dang cool place!  We also made a trip out to St Helens and Rainier, and those were awesome.  My sis-in-law works at a nice little zoo right in Seattle.  My bro, son, and I had some fun fly-fishing in the nearby rivers for trout.  We looked for, but saw no sasquatches, although I did see a black bear.

For a city, it was pretty decent.  Especially since you can escape from it without too much hassle, and get out to the "real world".

Why the hell anyone would want to move to the Pacific Northwest, willingly... is beyond comprehension.

Coulda moved to the southern part of Illinois if you didnt like chicago. We have corn, beans, corn, cows, corn, trees, corn, tractors, corn, corn, potholes, corn, wheat, corn, and lastly.....corn.

Its like the bermuda triangle of corn here. Once you get south of springfield, you no longer exist to the state of  illinois. Its like no mans land here
