Drone Targets
« on: October 27, 2009, 09:47:56 AM »
Probably a silly question, but are there target drones availiable and if so how do you bring them up. I know about the .target command (.target distance) and it places a bulls eye target to the north , but what about actual planes.
My gunnery sucks - maybe, just maybe a drone (not circling to the left as in offline) would work, or any advice to improve gunnery.
Thanks

Start the game and go into offline mode. Four planes will be circling your airfeild.

Be more specific, why does your gunnery suck?  How do you miss, what types of shots do you miss?  If you list some specific examples of how your gunnery is poor, a lot of guys can probably give you tips on how to improve it.

It teaches u to completely destroy a plane not give it a chance to limp away.

Try filming your sorties and review them. Will give you an Idea if you're not leading your target enough. Adjust the convergence of your guns in the hanger if using fighter.

Ok here is how I shoot the offline drones, I don't I ram them with my wing and prop it makes quick work of any plane, or just pop in a me 163 to climb quickly and put the gun sight a little above(10 degrees) and get on the inside of its turn and pull that big o' trigger

Mac,ever try the lead calculating gunsite?

It's available in the training arena for just this purpose. You simply press ctrl, tab then tab again when you have a target plane in view.A set of crosshairs will appear to show you where to aim, this can also be enabled offline to assist you in shooting the drones.

Remember, always ask permission before shooting in the training arena, there's always a few who will gladly become targets if you simply ask.

Thanks Morfiend and everyone for the replies, I am definitely having lead problems , I believe I am still shooting at the plane not where the plane is going to be - PRACTICE, PRACTICE, PRACTICE. I'll work with the gunsight in training - that should help -same way I learned to dive bomb with the little green crosshairs - and yes I always ask prior to lighting some one up in the TA (or I should say attempting to light them up) Thanks Guys -see ya in the MA- and if I'm on your six don't be scared yet.
