ki-61-I-tei crash and burn
« on: October 27, 2009, 10:05:45 PM »
Is there a reason this plane seems to catch on fire with most every belly land? Any other planes that do this?

Actually, a very long time ago (maybe before the fire effect revision), it used to do this invisibly. You'd be sitting there thinking you were fine and suddenly poof from the fire burning through. Strangely, you could see it in the film viewer IIRC.

But, yes, it's an oddity.

You know you might 'wish' for a way to belly land one in the grass to prevent this but belly landing on hard surfaces probably should cause fires regularly with japanese aircraft.
If you like the Sick Puppy Custom Sound Pack the please consider contributing for future updates by sending a months dues to Hitech Creations for account "Chalenge." Every little bit helps.

I recently ditched a Ki61, only to be unable to ".ef" as it said I must be stopped to exit flight.  Before I had the chance to try again, I blew up.  I was told I was on fire while I sat on the runway.  :)

I was at rest and I was on the runway, unable to tower out and ultimately blew up and died.
No film of it, and it's only happened once for me.  It occurred last night.
Time's fun when you're having flies.

I tried it offline with flaps down, and then with flaps up... It didn't catch fire, but.....

After the plane comes to a stop, it slowly rolls left with the left wing going below ground level, then explodes.

the new la7 model does this all the time with gears up belly land.

I don't know whether this has been said already or whether it is a feature.  FYI.

I remember in the beginnings of Aces High II, I would do my "hydraulic Japanese clowncar" interpretation by smacking it into the runway hard enough to ditch the wings. It would then sit there and do a strange nose-to-tail movement reminiscent of the Worm dance. :D I remember one time I left it running all night and it was still going in the morning.

I've had the exact same thing a couple of times....I was even on the runway once (rough landing hahaha)
