Once I finish work, i'll chop around with an old profile to see if I can get a better view in the f6f - if I can, I'll push the process your way Pongo.

I just got my TrackIR 5 tonight. Kind of weird..... but I haven't been able to spend much time customizing the views.
The ability to look forward/up and side to side is good but anything behind the wing is very uncomfortable.

I normally fly an F4U-1A. Trying to look behind me when vertical is impossible so far.......I can look up and back a little but I have to lean way back and turn... so far I have to let my hand off the stick.

Any clues would be much appreciated.

I'm sure its complicated at first but, you'll probably get the hang of it.

Noah, make your profile more aggressive - by which I mean, when you move your head, you want it to be moving more ingame than in reality. So when you move your head 20 degree's in RL, it moves much more ingame. For instance, the way I have mine set up, when I'm staring at the centre of the screen, it doesnt move, I look left 5 degrees in rl, and I'm looking at my 9oclock, another 5 degrees and I'm looking behind me. Ditto when looking right. The f4u has the big armour shield behind, so you have to move your head a bit further to see round it.

hth,

Noah,
Just on defaults with the non led clip, I have no problem looking right to my 6, so its your physical set up I would say.
Make sure you have a good distance, the unit is pointing level at your clip and you are reasonably close to the thing.
Really, my problem is not seeing to the 6, its seeing around the full armour plate.

I think part of my problem is that I got the TrackClip Pro.

It's pretty large and it's meant to go on a "Creative" headset.... I have a Plantronics headset that has the frame behind the neck. I've tried wearing my headset over my head but that makes the prongs of the clip too high. I've tried clipping it to one side of the headset but, then I can't see well to the side it's clipped to. I may need to either a new headset or the older baseball cap style clip.

I've managed to improve my views a lot but, in order to look behind me and up or, side now I still need to be sitting about 3 1/2 feet from my monitor. That's too far from my desk to keep my joystick on it and, it's harder to see the screen. Not quite sure what to do there yet.

Ya, I have a deep deep desk, and that helps for sure.
