windows 7 ultimate upgrade
« on: October 30, 2009, 11:53:04 AM »
This might be a question Skuzzy might be able to answer. I just bought windows 7 ultimate, I have the disk and I just want to run widows7.
Ok here is the ultimate dumb question. When I install the new OS will I lose all my files I have on my coimuter or should I back them up and then reinstall them after? Or does it automatically save and rwinstall them??

Depends if you're upgrading from Vista or XP.  If you're upgrading from Vista, you can upgrade to Windows 7 and it should allow you to keep your files.  If you're upgrading from XP, you'll have to back up your files and then reinstall your programs afterwards.

Backup your files anyway...upgrade or not is still risking the loss unless those files are on a secondary drive that would not be affected by an OS install.
