Quick question on RAM

While I wait for my 4GB of ram to come in monday, I was wondering if I could use my 2x 1GB sticks that I've got right now, the ram I'm getting in and the ram I have are both DDR2-800. The mobo I have is:

Can I put this 2GB in for a day just to get my OS setup and whatnot?

Hmm...powered everything up, computer shuts off after 5-7 seconds of running (nothing happens on screen) then restarts itself after 3 seconds of being off. Rinse and repeat.

Reseat everything, remove the other ram stick and try again.

Still nothing.
The Phase LED's light up until 5 before shutting off, there are 6 LED's...if that helps.

recheck your wires.  something is not in right.  mine did that the first time then found out i had the on/reset button polarities reversed.  I would start with that.

Checked and checked them, ugh, hopefully nothing is Doa.

try installing only one stick then move it to each  one of the four hopefully its your ram.  some mobo's are picky about which ram they get.

Have tried that too, though I don't know if this ram is totally compatible with the mobo, I'm going to wait until monday when I get the ram in the mail to see if that is the case.

As mentioned, install one or two at a time and make sure they're seated all the way down. It's very irritating, but sometimes they look good on casual inspection, only to find out that they didn't quite land all the way into those slots. Go slow and don't break anything.

Oh and if the machine won't boot, make sure you reset the bios settings. Use CMOS reset button if it has one or remove the battery for a few seconds.

Got the RAM today, put it in and secured it...didn't help my problemo. Though I did find a discovers, I had unplugged the 8 pin on accident and never plugged it in, and the computer didn't shut off. Maybe a bad 12v rail in the PSU? The RAM was installed correctly. When I put the 8 pin back in it did what it was doing yesterday, I also don't even get a POST.

Check to make sure the heatsink/fan on the processor is seated correctly?  If it's on loosely and not pressing upon the CPU, then it's quickly overheating and shutting down the system....
If it's not on there properly, it's like not having one at all..  The reason it may work with the 12v plug not plugged into the board may be because the processor isn't getting power..
Processor not getting power, then it's obviously not heating up and shutting down the system....  I'd recheck this just to be sure....
Otherwise, you'll have to trouble shoot..  Maybe you can take out the PSU and run it up to a local PC shot and have them test it for you..?  Without certain things, there's really no way for you
trouble shoot.. 
I'd say it's either the heatsink/fan not seated properly or it's your power-supply..  After reading many of the customer reviews at NewEgg, it's possible the board may be bad out of the box, but
not likely....  Same with the RAM...  Have you used this PSU in a another computer and had it working??

remove all sound cards, video cards,  any kind of card u might have there just to make sure they're not the problem.  also did u use the raiser, sticks or whatever u call them (blond moment here ) so the mobo doesnt sit directly on the case, this will cause a short.  I would remove everything and start from scratch.  also if the mobo gets power u might hear a series of beeps (if u still the speaker)  this will kindda tell you what's wrong with it check the documentation.  did anything work on it?  I mean cpu fans, case fans, anything that will get power out of the mobo.  also if this is a new case posibility might be a bad power button.

As posted before me start over.  Nest thing to do is to remove everything. Lay your MB out on a static pad, do your build outside of the case.  Much easier to trouble shoot.  Make sure the MB is close enough you can get your PWR and Reset plugs on.
