While doing some sound work for the TBM I inadvertently created a near perfect recreation of the infamous Washing Machine Charlie. For those who don't know who he is, here's the skinny. Washing Machine Charlie raided henderson almost every day at noon - Tojo Time. The troops at Henderson gave him that nickname because of his unsynchronized props that made a chugging sound. So when the Betty gets here, you've got a nice little sound to go with it.
Just for the heck of it, I included start-up and shutdown sounds I got from somewhere. Along with a very nice bomb drop sound. I'm using these sounds for the TBM right now, but the bomb drop I've used to replace the default and rather corny "click" when you drop bombs. I've got my engine sounds set at a high volume, so I usually can't hear the default "click" of a drop.
Washing Machine Charlie's sound packMy Typhoon sound pack can still be had, but I was forced to change the dload location. I haven't done a shutdown sound as of yet, but I will eventually. If I could find out some engine and prop specs of the Tempest it would help. All I really need are the max RPM of both the prop and engine for the Typhoon and Tempest, that way I know how to change the sounds.
Typhoon PackI've used an unknown number of Wab's and Fscott's sounds, and have modified them to some extent. What I'd like to do is put together a huge sound pack for AH using their sounds along with mine. So far the size is at 23 megs uncompressed. With your permission guys, I'd like to send HTC my entire sounds folder containing sounds done by myself, Fscott and Wab. Thanks to a friend of mine loaning me about 50 megs of storage space I've posted the file. If Fscott or Wab wants a copy of it, fire an e-mail to me and I'll give you the link.
NOTE: this offer is only for these two gents since they did a load of work putting these sounds together. If and when I get the all clear from them I'll let everyone know it's been released.
