Can I make recommendations?

Oh well, I'm gonna anyways, I downloaded the new version and am on trial period, and I LOVE THIS GAME!!! But now that the almost ever country has a bomber, how bout something for those, "Scramble Base 19!" oh I dont know, say a......
   
KOMET!!!!!!!!!! Perfect for those times a incoming bombers are dropping bombs! Or a He111 (because the Ju88 is just to small), or a Ju52 for Axis paratroopers!

Ahh, finally another Komet nut! I can hear that rocket screaming behind me now. Gawd what I wouldn't give to see one of these mothers come blasting up through a cloud bank after some sorry Lancaster or B-17.

 only one prob with Komet... it was a short range intecepter.... bow take and use the fuel multiplier it would never make bombers alt :O( ... if the multiplier was put at a 1:1 ratio with historical then it might be worth something.

Well, if the Komets were limited to certain fields (like, large airfields only).. and those fields had a building to kill off the komet.. like their c-stoff fuel...

and had the 1:1 fuel ratio (a real komet stayed less than 10 minutes in the air I recall)...

then it would really be great to have. Since the turbolasers make ANY plane a piece of meat to be shot at, and we see sooooo many 30k alt buffdweebs... the komet would be PERFECT against such things.

Flakbait, alas I too cant find many Komet nuts, I just cant get over that plane!!! Have you read Baptism of Fire? Its a great book. Tac, thats exactly what I was thinkin, it would make it alot more fun! Instead of knockin out ack, you knock out the C-Stoff, I think it would rock!!!

Heh I showed a similar pic to a non aviation friend of mine, and told him this baby had a great climb rate.

His answer: "HAH, yu liar. How can it have that with such a small prop?"

 

He actually punched me in the face when I wouldn't stop laughing.

LOL, the momories, the memories. I still lauh when I think about it. Man did he get pissed,  LOL.

4 minutes at 100% throttle. Of course in those 4 minutes you reach over 40,000ft.

Main field only and ultra-specialized rocket maintenance crew building we can bomb to disable the Komet?

I wouldn't mind seeing the Komet under those conditions, and I may fly the speed demon too!

Problem with the Komet:

When you shoot someone down fairly close to his base, he ups in a Komet and zooms over to you at 600 MPH and kills you as you struggle to RTB in your damaged plane.

Doesn't seem like the sort of thing most folks would really appreciate.


Perhaps the cure would be worse than the ailment in this case.  


I think limiting bomb accuracy at extreme alts is a better way to prevent 35k buffs.  That or damage the engine if run at 100% too long so they could climb up there when passing the main fight...but would have to come back down.  AirWarrior will soon be implementing "bomb drift" to combat this problem.  Perhaps Aces High should use something similar (but more realistic in application)?

Ah.. do you guys really want to fly a plane that killed more German pilots (due to terribly jarring landing as well as the unstable corrosive fuel) than Allied bomber crew members?

War Birds (from whence AH came) had a beta Komet for awhile (flown only by the game developers).  I saw one once: looked like a SAM coming up to intercept me.

Did German pilots want to fly it? Yes, they were lining up to die in it. Why? Because it was AWESOME! Which other fighter can climb at 600km/h and 16,000fpm?

Man, I would love to get my mits on that bird.  I remember flying one in SWOTL (Ok i can hear it now and stifle your laughs, it was many moons ago) and it was awesome to fly.

Man I can smell the C and T-Stoff burning through that Walther HWK 509A-1/A-2 rocket engine, rocketing (literally hehe) 16k feet per min, taking a whopping 2 minutes to get to 32k feet, then diving on the bomber and let those 2 30-mm Rheinmetall Borsig MK 108 cannons do there handy work and then gliding gently back to the base.

I would give my right nut to have this plane to fly in game......

adding bomb dispersion wont help very much against strato buffs. If they want to drop a LOT of bombs (aka lancaster) to hit a target they WILL. If they wanted accuracy they'd take a fighter with bombs and do it.

Remember why they go so high: nobody can touch them. Just imagine 3 or 4 lancasters at 32k carpet bombing... literally.

I would say to DISABLE the Komet's guns until it got to 20k+. Then it would be a "balancing" weapon.

 What J_A_B said, except for the bomb drift part. bomb drift in AW is going to PISS off all the pork mongers. Almost makes me wish I was stil there to see this latest storm brew  
 Anyway. IF there was an ME-163 in AH and it was available as any other plane is now you'd wipe out the bomber guys in AH. The ME-163 would literally be used like a SAM. As soon as a strike was seen to be incoming towards a base there would be a flood of pilots taking off in ME-163's and HO'ing the bombers, over and over and over till they were all dead in no time flat.  Any enemy bombers that miraculously remained alive through the drop (assuming a multi-bomber force here) would endure a constant cloud of ME-163's trying to knock them down before the could egress.
 About the only way to replicate real life use or limitations of the ME-163 would be to limit thier availability, model random failure in launch and limit respawn time between use. For starters.
 Still. I would love to try one out!

I've got it.

Specify only 2 fields per side and their HQ.

These fields (and the HQ) would have to have a special building for fuel.  Just put a generic warehouse next to the field's fuel. No biggie.


Now set up a sortie/plane ratio.  For every 163 mission, you must fly x number of missions (I would set it to two) in any other plane.


In SWOTL, I loved this bird.  Cool thing about it is, you get so high, then you're engine shuts off.  The rest of the flight is a challenge in keeping your speed (not easy to do with that lil' prop   ).

In AH, it very well could be the only defense against 30+K buffs.

Now only one more problem.  How the hell do you set up a firing pass going 600+ MPH???
