Who broke Patrick Roys career win record last year?   who is on pace to break sawchuks career shutout record? who has the most wins in a season. minutes played in a season. most consecutive 30plus wins and 35plus and 40plus win seasons. most postseason shutouts? youngest goaltender to break 300 400 500 regular season wins?    just curious

Same guy who played his entire career behind a Trap system...

All-star on paper.  Average when the D breaks down.

Patrick Roy was a dirty player, so dirty that he toaught his kid his ways, and got him banned from his highschool hockey team. Brueder break sawchuks records? LOL. Minutes in a season? coach overplayed him. So hes got some talents and all, but he will NEVER be as good as #1 (it says it on his jersey to) Terry Sawchuk

James Neal gets a 5 minute major, a game misconduct and a two game suspension for boarding Derek Dorsett.

Compare Neal's offense to Mike Richards' creaming David Booth in the head at the blue line.  Richards got he major and the misconduct, but no suspension, when clearly he was aiming to clean Booth's clock.

It was a QMJHL game (March 2008) where his son sucker punched the other goalie in a brawl that got him a 15 game suspension.

Trying to compare present day players to the players back when there was only 6 teams is an apple and oranges kind of thing.

Players today are bigger, faster, better equiped and the game has changed. That said most players today wouldnt have made the league back then, the pool of players is so large it's been watered down.

I'm not saying every player wouldnt make, there's some outstanding talent out there and I'm sure some of todays players certainly would have made the team. The real differences are in the game itself and the attitude of the players.

Personally I hate hearing so and so is better than so and so when it comes to players of different eras.

I wonder how good Broudure or Roy would have been facing shots without a mask or if Sawchuk could handle a 100 mph slapshot!Dont even get me started on the changes to the rules, geeze it's not even the same game, the instigater rule has basically turned the game into cheapshot freeforall.

Back a few decades ago you'd never think of cheapshotting the star as the enforcer would take care of you, nowadays carees are ended far to often as a result of this. The player respect has gone from the game as well and this only adds to the problem.

Of course opinions vary and everyone has 1,so I'm mearly expressing mine.

BTW,incase you dont know I'm a canuk so I've seen afew games over the years....

That looked like something you would see on the soccer field in France....

Compare Neal's offense to Mike Richards' creaming David Booth in the head at the blue line.  Richards got he major and the misconduct, but no suspension, when clearly he was aiming to clean Booth's clock.

That was a nasty hit. Richards was trying to hurt him otherwise he would have lowered the shoulder a bit more and hit Booths chest. Still would have been a real good hit but probably wouldn't have knocked Booth into next month.

morfiend, there wasn't the pool of minor league players to draw from either in the old days. Coaching in the old days wasn't as good as it is today.

Agreed Milo, like I said apples and oranges it's completely different. Heck when I played the had just made helmets manditory for minor league play, mouth guards were unheard of,ya I have the teeth or lack of to prove it.. :lol

I think the skill level has improved, the players are much bigger but I dont think they are as tough as the oldtimers. Then there's all that money...Thats why I hate those comparisons so much, sorta like saying who's the best boxer Ali or Dempsey... It just isnt fair to either side of the coin as there's so much difference in the sports.

Very true.  The instigator penalty (and Gary Bettman) has ruined the game.
