Keyboard problems
« on: November 04, 2009, 01:04:56 PM »
Hey guys. I'm pretty stupid with computers so I haven't been able to figure this out. After downloading the newest drivers for the Standard PS/2 Keyboard, the game won't recognize certain buttons when trying to perform functions, for example the tilda won't open the message menu and [ won't zoom out or in. These two buttons don't work for any function. However, while typing messages I use them just fine. Any ideas?

Is it a Microsoft driver/keyboard?  I have heard about this problem, but we have not been able to get our hans on a keyboard/driver combination so we can test it in house.

More details would be welcome.

What driver, specifically, was updated?
Manufacturer?
What keyboard and model number?
What operating system?

Just FYI.  You do not need to load any drivers in order for a keyboard to work in Windows.

Had the same problem...removed "eHome Remote Control Keyboard", eHome MCIR Keyboard, and eHome MCIR 109 Keyboard drivers..the only keyboard device I have on my system when AH is running is "Standard 101/102-Key or Microsoft Natural PS/2 Keyboard with HP QLB"...only problem is when the system is rebooted the drivers are reinstalled....gotta love Vista....YMMV!!!

I had this exact problem with a generic multi media keyboard. Windows update had drivers available so I installed them. That was a mistake because it screwed up some keys in AH. After uninstalling the drivers, the problem was fixed. Even without the drivers, my multi media buttons still work.

The keyboard came with an Acer computer. Model # is KB-2971. Just a simple keyboard. I tried to uninstall the driver going through the control panel-keyboard-hardware-properties-change settings-driver-uninstall method but it's not working. Is there a folder where those are found?

I have to figure out how to get those drivers causing this problem first.  The auto-updater for our Vista box does not seem to show any keyboard drivers available.

I actually got the drivers using a program called Driver Robot. It scans your system to see if any drivers need updated. I got a lot of updates and also had a problem with the mouse update, but it was an easy fix, had to click use standard mouse. I think it configured the computer to use the new touchpad or whatever just came out. Other than that, there haven't been problems.

Actually,I think this is a Vista problem. When I first started playing I had this problem for the first 6-8 months, around november, december of last yr it magically fixed itself though. It had nothing to do with the keyboard drivers.  But after I reinstalled AH a few weeks ago after my OS reinstall the problem wasn't there anymore.

Ruler2, there is a good chance Vista installed something you knew nothing about.  Microsoft is doing that more and more.  Computers do not magically/mysteriously change the way they work.  There is always a logical reason/explanation as to why the behavior changes.
