A successful bombing mission is an awful lot of fun, "heck an unsuccessful one often is". I miss the old runs with magic, or Talon, or Trukk. Getting 8 to 10 guys flying box, flights of P-51s or Jugs flyng escort, to me symbolizes this game better then anything. But, I'm a history nut. So when the 190s and 109s bounce us, or try to, it gets even better. And a box of B-24s that size is a fearsome defensive package.
The 484'th was the best bunch Ive ever flown with in AH. Made more so by the actual history of the squadron we were honoring. http://www.15thaf.org/49th%20BW/484th%20BG/Missions/Missions.htm
Good times. I'd fly with those guys again anytime.
Was always a pleasure Rich.
Our group's XO's father used to fly with the actual 484th. In some small way I hope we honored these brave souls in remembrance in what we did. In the 450th in Warbirds, the group CO's grandfather flew with the 450thBG. The website and all the resources there are most excellent as well. Lots of history to keep going. Most of us wont probably ever see the top ten stats list , but I'm proud to say that all the folks I flew with in both groups did so in the spirit of the history behind both of these great squadrons. In doing so, both groups were an impressive sight. Kind of trivial when you think about this being a game, but it also makes you take notice of what history gives back to us in a sense , and when the conditions are right, what this particular great generation faced on a daily basis. At least thats what we were shooting for anyways.
