slight DA modification
« on: November 05, 2009, 11:20:37 PM »
What i would like to see is some separation in the Dueling Arena.  What i mean by separation is keep the main furball lake as it is, but add one or two others with only Mid War and Early War planes available.  This way, people that are in the arena to practice for FSO (for example) can fly their early war rides, such as the P-40B without getting constantly harassed by the tempests and other "uber" rides.

again just an idea.   :salute

Bring your own targets and practice outside the lake.

Besides, what's better practice than killing Tempest in an I-16.

Actually Branch thats not a bad idea.

If you separate them with 30k mountains.
That would let folks practice with the early, mid war rides without constantly getting buzzed by late war perk monsters.

Think it would seperate some of the dwebery too. ;) Would make flying in there a bit more enjoyable.

If HTC would consider the idea, I would build the terrain for it to be tried out by the community to see if it's a better DA setup.  I've thought about building & submitting another DA terrain so at least there could be a rotation of scenery.  Same basic setup, but something different to look at.  Building a terrain like  branch is describing wouldn't be all that more difficult.

I like the idea, but I'm just wondering:

How do you know the EW and MW lakes will even be populated? Seems to me it's the same problem with EW and MW arenas, you can build it, but who will come?

Also, if you are practicing for FSO, presumably you will be bringing your squad to help dogfight/practice. In that case, aren't the private fields sufficient?

Ever been in a private duel at a "private" field and had some dweeb show up in C-hog and ruin it?

+1 I like the idea.

Oh ok, I see it all coming together.

EW and MW restrictions so that any random people who show up to mess with your practice have to at least be flying the restricted aircraft. Mountains separating so the dweebs won't come in from other areas with LW aircraft.

Meh, bring back H2H or at least private rooms for subscribers - all problems solved :devil. :pray

Ranger, I would suggest you go ahead and build it. Send it along with the all the files and a very nice cover letter to HTC. Explaining why you think this map would be "better". I'd suggest there should also be a 3 country Tank Town also surrounded by mountains so no bombers can reach them. Along with a nice scattering of Dueling fields at different altitudes.

Wait a month  after you send it, then follow up with a phone call.
If it was me I'd ask for Pyro.

I do realize that its a lot of work, and a labor of love.

Which type?  One with separate EW/MW/LW areas? Or one like the one we have now with just some change of scenery?  Adding a 3-sided TT area would be easy for either one.

Ranger I really hope you do this, it would be a better place to go then the current ego inflated furball lake.

+1 I like it too alot.  As far as the amount of people that would fly it, I believe you would be suprised.  I would love to see the DA more about ACM then picking.  Not going to mention any names but its gotten to the point where when some lose there E (not 5k above everyone)  they run back to there base.  I run one last night and when I got behind him he dove it into the ground never fired a shot.

Along with these modifications and hopefully in the near future a strictly 1vs1 arena HTC is becoming better everyday.
