Wings of Prey the New IL-2?
« on: November 09, 2009, 03:05:47 AM »
Just saw this

http://news.bigdownload.com/2009/11/06/wings-of-prey-revealed/

And was wondering if anyone had other news about it.  Obviously it won't compete with AHII for multiplayer, but I really want to find an immersive WWII game that features a story line and character advancement.

Oh wow, yet ANOTHER WWII in Europe sim.

Flashbacks to 1998 when there were 4-5 of them, all set in Europe.
Ron White says you can't fix stupid. I beg to differ. Stupid will usually sort itself out, it's just a matter of making sure you're not close enough to become collateral damage.

People like competitive planesets, saxman.  ETO and Eastern front have them, PTO does not.

Bullchit. What the Japanese didn't have was competitive pilots and industry. They had designs near the end of the war that were very good, they just couldn't do them in the numbers and with the same level of quality control.

Yeah, in 1945 they finally had some aircraft that were nearly the equal of the F4U and F6F.  For the rest of the war it's target practice. :P

They were not target practice at the beginning either.

I wouldn't sing the praises of the TBD Devastator either.  All carrier based attack planes were easy meat for fighters at the start.

Granted from a historical view we could argue on this topic for pages and pages and never be satisfied.  We're talking about a video game here.  In a perfect world you would have all the niche market games out there that you want.  European air battles for the most part have been more popular than Pacific.

That doesnt mean much owing to what has been done so far. No one has done the B-29 from India Tinian or China have they? How about escort missions for them? AVG? How about Philippine air battles? I think there is a lot that could be done and hasnt and that would draw a lot of attention.

I would love to see a good Midway sim that has some form of variability.
