I think we need to get out of the habit of a ball of fire trailing from the center of the fuselage... It's just remarkably unrealistic. If you could try to have the fire streaming from almost any other part of the aircraft that would be beautiful.

Serenity, kind of confused what you're saying here... it doesn't look to me that Pigs added any "ball of fire". That's IL-2s normal fireball graphics.

the color screenshot is non edited, just saying. Thats what it looks like in game, and at least Il-2 has engine fires, lol

Pretty good for your first crack at it.  Watch for the "Jaggies" along the plane's lines.  You can counter act those with a "smudge tool" that can blend those somewhat.

Brownbaron, I love the idea and think it mostly looks good, but you might want to zoom in around the aircraft and clean up the edges a little bit.

Contrary to Slash's compliment BMathis, I have to say that I don't like that picture...
