Dueling arena chat regulations?
« on: November 11, 2009, 02:10:50 PM »
I know lately a lot of people have been muted in chat including me. But I know what I said and it was nothing offensive. I would like to ask to skuzzy and the admins if we could have more indepth guidelines of what's appropriate and what's not. Obviously Swearing out the word is not appropriate obviously, but what is appropriate and a mutable offense that's not the actual word For instance Abreviations etc. I know I got muted for say F!$% that and some others got muted for saying F that, so I ask how is that offensive? Surely it's not going to offend a young child because it's not even a word, it leaves it to the imagination it would be anything Freak that, Fudge that, etc. Which brings me to the next thing is that with all the muting it gives people who don't like other people to get them an excuse to report their nemesis for "abusive language" such as those above that aren't even offensive and anyone that does that is sorry to say is a jerk move. So can we get some more in depth guidelines of what's appropriate and whats not so we know what to avoid so we don't get muted for rediculous reasons.

Heheheh welcome to the "politically correct" world where the waterboys have taken over the world.  HTC put in the "report" function for bad situations, the pc crowd have used it to advance their agenda, don't take personal and just stay off text an all will be well ;)

So when you said "F!$% that", what four letter F word were you going for?

BTW, you are the one giving them the excuse to mute you, not the system. Don't F anything...see how that works for ya!  :aok

It's not a word, so how is it offensive. infact how is the letter F offensive at all, like I said it could mean anything, fudge, frack, freak, frick. It's just rediculous how sensitive people are to the letter F. But if someone comes in and tells us that the Letter F or abreviations are no longer allowed that's fine, I'll avoid them, but just being muted for that is a little too strict especially since I didn't know that the letter F with asteriks "foul language"

If it meant any of those words you would most likely type them out.  The only reason to use the letter "F" or "F#$%" is to hide a specific word because you know it's bad and will not fly.  You deserve the punishment you received, end of story.  Have a nice day!  :aok

well if it's not appropriate then I'll avoid it, but how would I have known, so as I was saying before we need some regulations of what we can and can't say, such as the letter F or !$!# because it's SOOOOO offensive, last I remember Swear words were just that, actually "WORDS" :furious

How about conducting yourself with a slight bit of respectfulness at all times?  It works wonders for me.  Then you do not have to worry about where the line is, how close you can get to it, and where you cross it. :aok

I'd say BBS rules somewhat apply to arenas..

Most of the profanity filters in the games I play actually filter words by doing this "!$%" so I never thought it would be offensive

IF you just would have done "$%^%!!!!!" it would have been fine. You however preceded it with an F, making it an attempt to bypass the filter.

Then just simply post what your meant and all will be good.

Uhh all the guys bashing the OP....

You realize that things like foook, fk, chit, etc which are more indicative of the word trying to be censored PASS the filter? Yet when the OP self-censors more of the word than these instances do... he gets muted?

Seems weird to me.
