Question on Kills
« on: November 14, 2009, 04:36:36 AM »
Last night I clearly shot down AKWxMan (have it on film) but he chose to bravely ride the wreckage to the ground while his ten team mates shot my Zeke into swiss cheese. Please enlighten me as to why that isnt in the logs. Its just another kill and I dont really care but I do want to make sure that this isnt a bug or something.

If he impacts the ground after you die there is not a kill, merely a crash.

Either way his kill counts on the score for the frame, if he dies before you do then you might be on to something.

You bravely bailed from a damage plane at 23:22:47

He was captured by enemy forces at 23:23:31

By the time stamps involved I would say everything is on the up and up.

Looking at the raw logs basically you missed getting the kill credit by less than a second.

23:22:47 - Chalenge bailed
23:23:31 - AKwxman captured

Raw logs would show when AKWaxMn actually bailed verses when he towered out, same for Chalenge.

I am sure ghostdancer can read the time stamp....

I guess I was fooled by his proximity to the ground and the icon having disappeared. He and six others had been fighting me at A24 and I was hoping they would all be even lower at the port having bagged only one of them. Unfortunately even though I could stay out of the most of the gun solutions there some random shots wounded me and once the plane was forced into a straight path there wasnt anything I could do. I never expected everyone to be holding that high or the B-17s to be on the deck like that. I think if the rest of my squad had still been with me alot more of you would have followed WxMan but it was fun either way.  :D  :salute

We had 2 flights of p40's.  The p40E flight was the sweep which we encountered and destroyed them but we ended up low (7-9k).  So the p40B's (2nd flight took over high alt cap for the b17's.  That is the flight u encountered until the E's got up to yas.  And the B17's were 12k, not otd.  If one was otd, it was after I died and that was after they made there first drop.

The only B-17s I saw were headed home on the deck.

I saw no way to accomplish the mission by following orders to the letter (i.e. 'close escort') so I improvised with a distracting engagement. Seems to have done the job.  :D  :salute

My squad was attacking the port to the north in our P-40's.  We were far too north to do any good at that point, and figured you were trying to protect your base.  Either way, well done! :salute

Canacka: My coming up there was not the distraction we are talking about... I just followed along after a group I had been fighting. I should have known it would lead to trouble.  :D
