Did any one think the colts would win!
« on: November 15, 2009, 10:45:08 PM »
Wow! Poor decisions on the Pats part near the end, two time outs wasted, and going for it on 4th down. Colts played horrible most of the game, dropped passes, bad passes (many) and they win.

I was worried when it was 31-14.  Two things stand out for me. Well 3 really. The bad pass int call, the fact that they went for it on 4th down, and spot on that 4th down. Its like the offense fell back on the defense, the defense fell asleep, and the coach forgot where he was on the field.

In his defense though, he saw the Colts move the ball already like 3 times for scores in under 2 minutes. He lost faith in the defense and went for broke.

<S> Filth, I was just stunned. I gave up on the Colts and started my CPA studies.

Before I comment, the Pats lost the game with two turnovers in the red zone.  Stupid stupid play.

BUT,

The spot on the 4th down play was frigging HORRIBLE, watched it on tevo at least 10 times and it was a first down.  That it was not reviewed upstairs is rediculous.  They review every other freaking call, why not that one.

The defensive pass interference call that gave the Colts great field position for their 2nd to last touchdown was crap, as the receiver created it.

Yet another game ruined by officials.

Yup.

Enjoyed the game though, atleast it was exciting. I had the pleasure of watching the Dallas game earlier and fell asleep 3 times before turning it off. :)

The turnovers did suck, but Indy turned it over too so who knows. But those calls...on the 4th down play, the players back was to the ref who was saying it was juggled. Plus he wasnt on the marker, his angle of vision would have looked short no matter what.

Someday maybe they will put chips in the tips of the balls and the yard markers and do away with the fellas in striped shirts :P

It really makes you wonder if this is all part of the lovefest the NFL has with the manning brothers....

You know they'd love to have a Manning Superbowl. Unfortunately this year the Downes brother isnt doing very good. I'll always like Payton, these games between Brady and him are why I love football.

The older one is an awesome quarterback.  Not the same with the younger.

Don't really watch football that much. As far as the 4th and 2 play goes I heard a new rule. Supposedly, if the player does not have control the players forward motion rule does not count. I guess you can also point to the interference call as well. Not sure about that one either. I think at that point the Patriots could have challenged it. I think they had timeouts left.

What I don't understand is why they didn't trust their defense and punt. That decision was well in their grasp. Albeit they are a great 4th down team.

It seems to me every game has questionable calls. The Colts have been misreading plays, making errors, etc for what seems the whole season. This game they just made countless errors and still hung in there while the Patriots just made some great great plays. Moss is incredible and so is Brady, Walker, and Werkle (Spelling).

I was really down on the Colts until I saw the Bears and Atlanta game. Then I said hey the Colts are great!

Well the object is to get to post season, hopefully my Pats will recover from this, they have quite a few tough games ahead of them. Who knows, we may play Indy again before its over. Chances are if we do it will end up a 6-3 game Pats.

Its where the player gained complete control of the ball is where the "catch" is made and where the spot is.
If you watch the play and freeze it you will see he gained possession of and location of the ball just a hair shy of the first down mark. (its where the ball is. Not where the players body is.
I saw it as a good spot

The only bobble was at the point when the ball touched his fingers. He grabbed hold pretty quick. The spot was good...where he landed, but to me it looks like he was at the marker in control in the air. It doesnt matter now. Pats had a couple chances in the red zone and blew it one way or the other. Coulda shoulda woulda.

QFT.  Also, Bodhi not a booth review because it happened previous to the 2:00 warning.  I thought it was a very good spot by the sideline official, who had a perfect perspective from where he stood.  Exciting game, even though I could care less about either team.

Listened to all the pundits this a.m.(very unusual for me). Many said it was a terrible error, total lapse of thought. However, what happens if they make it and the patriots have 78% of the time from what I understand. Then it would have been what a gutsy move by Belichek (Spelling). Showed he had real confidence in his offense. Yeah he went with his stength etc.. Of course that didn't happen and they say the opposite.
