off topic, but it's interesting to note that that exact same tripod design is still in service. Must've been a hell of an engineering job.

Yep a 1919. A buddy has 2 of them and only one is semi auto. They go with his Browning M2 50 cal too. Can we say BIG BOY toys???

In canadian service we used those as the C5 GPMG in 7.92mm till 1990 or so. I spent way too much time humping, cleaning and cleaning those things. Great fun to fire though.

About 20 yrs ago, a company made some 2/3 scale (.22 cal) replicas of the M1919 aircooled and M1917 watercooled.

I came with two plastic 'belts' that could hold 1 or 2 hundred rounds.

They had semi and full auto versions and because of the shorter barrel, it was classed as a pistol.

Looked like great fun but was 1,200 in 1980 dollars.
