Question for Pyro
« on: October 02, 2001, 10:41:00 PM »
What is being done to the P-38 in 1.08?

Thats the ONE question I have had in my mind since it was announced that some of the existing planes in the set were being revisited.

Problems related to spins and unstability linked to one-ping-eng-kill issue will be solved. Now one ping will kill both engines.   :D

Cheers,

Pepe

Hehe, Tac, the one ping engine kill will be fixed. I flew the P38 the other day, and I got an Oil leak, didn't think that could happen in the P38 but obviously it can.

hehe-meat on table.  good one.  this present 38 will outdo any plane in the arena, even with glass tail and engines,  no prop drag or dive flap stability, and a slightly(and i mean slight) touchy rudder.

this 38's in pretty good shape, now that i've had the time (a month) to adjust to the fm in general.  just a bit of tweaking's all it needs.  as a matter of fact, i'd take no work done to it verses really porkin it with tons of fixes.  cept for the damage model...  its, its, well.........

i do a straight roll into my merges, this counters the ho's, for the most part.  problem is if a person happens to hit me in the merge, i loose my engine.  this is a problem.  i rarely loose my tail section any more.  i counter the tail shots by doin' tail rolls.  again, if someone does happen to get a shot, bam my tails gone.

it actually seems a bit more stable now than 2 weeks ago; this could be subtle implimentations or just my familiarity w/the fm.

i can dog any plane in it now. i've outturned la7s and spits and georges (nose down, up, spiraled-name it), consistantly now, high or low-speed and e and alt, and haven't noticed the rudder flop syndrom near as much.

i've reeled in 51's and fw's and 109's and 47's and f4's, when they've tried to rope me, snapped into their dives(some reason my rounds are rubber)and dogged em without too many rudder problems, overall.

yeah it needs some tweakin, just a bit; please don't hack it up though.

Prob just the engine pings TAC. Pyro said ,not about the 38 specificly, but the only FM changes where those listed on specific planes in the readme file. I asked him about flaps in general and thats what he said.

Of course, I only see what he posts here and what he does in the MA.  I know virtually nothing about the man.  I think its important for people to realize that we don't really know squat about each other.... definately not enough to use words like "hate".
