OP posted about a Flanker, someone asked if that was the same plane that crashed at the airshow, and it was.  How is that irrelevant?

because it wasn't the planes fault that it crashed. it was pilot error.

I INterpreted the statement of "that's the same plane that crashed at the airshow" to mean that the plane was unsafe, and a POS. hence my statement.

I don't see how the discussion about crashes is relevant in this thread related to the sale of these two unique birds. Both the Su27 and MiG29 have crashed at various airshows over the years, most (if not all) of these crashes can be traced back to pilot error. All military aircraft suffer attrition rates in normal operating conditions and the russians do have a track record of being somewhat unruly at airshows (and in general). Like that norwegian P3 Orion over the north sea, about 10 years ago or so, that encountered a Su27 intercept and the Sukhoi pilot went in so close he struck the recce plane with one of his tail fins. Both aircraft and all crew survived that incident, but the norwegians swore that the russian was drunk! That may very well have been the case.

Back on topic, those birds are unique and deserve a worthy owner. I hope they find a good home and a owner who isn't afraid to fly them at airshows.

that was the point i was making.

hell.....even the thunderbirds, And blue angels......pretty much the two best airshow teams in the world have had crashes......i think the canadian team crashed one or two of their trainers.........

 yes, the person that can afford to buy one of these beauties is indeed fortunate. lets just hope it's not the nutball that drove the veyron into the pond in texas.

THAT is an excellent idea. if i recall, they're doing that with an me262? not the mach 2 rides.....but just the rides in the 262 jet./

I skimmed through that FAA stuff but nothing is jumping out on why they couldn't be flown here. Seems to be a hell of a an investment not to have your act together.
