Many of you who have only flown in WWII or later a/c are going to be very surprised how different the dogfights are in WWI.
BnZ fighters, alt monkeys, turn and burn, yep.....they are all there. The real difference is turn fighting. Some fights start with allot of alt and end up in the dirt while others start down in
the dirt and end in the dirt or may even end in a collision. Tactics are very different.
The maneuvers used are the Wingover, Splits S, Immelmann , Barrel rolls (inside or outside), Chandelles, Scissors, ect. and
even putting on the brakes. The pilot does not experience as many G forces as the WWII pilot.
Get a Wing and you can even do a Thach Weave. Fighting at a speed of 100 mph or less is very different indeed.
The real challenge in WWI is to dive into a Furball and
be the only one to fly out alive.
That is the thrill of dogfighting in WWI.
