Great FSO <S>

The LCA had a blast in this setup. The P-40B vs. the A6M2 was a fun match up as always. Can't wait for HTC to flesh out our early war plane set a bit more, but we have to deal with what we have  :salute

Thanks for the hard work guys and we can't wait for next month.

Ditto...lots of fun. Regardless of what some people think the matchup was pretty good...lots of nail biting going on.

Good scenario overall <S> to the CM's.  I'm not much of a fan of some early war scenario's but this was a pretty even match up over all.  Unlike many scenario's you had to think your way through this one.  If you didnt you died fast and probably didnt enjoy it much.

  Frame 01 (Zeros in defense) we got destroyed to the man taking zeros against the B17's and putting up a kamikaze defense over our field.  Result we all died early and the bombers circled the field for 20 minutes dropping bombs.

  Frame 02 (Zeros in defense) we left the B17s alone because very few could hit anything much with any result unless they got low in big group and carpet bombed.  But we turned our attention on the P-40s and destroyed them almost to the man and landed 3/4 of the squad at the end.

  Frame 03 (B5N's Strike Package) Had a B5N mission, we divided up the squad and sent in 2 low and early to pull the cap down, then massed with other squads for the main effort and then sent 2 in late frame for clean up.  We all died of course because it is the B5N  :D but we we got hits and some guys made a second strike.

Like I said you had to think your way through this scenario which was the challenge to any squad planner.  How best to keep the squad alive.
Didn't hear anyone in the 325th VFG complaining and they all took the challenge on for each frame.  Again kudo's to the CM's for giving me something to do on Friday nights  :salute

It must have been due to the excellent escort of the Mongrels.  :devil

Had a blast as usual. Had to log after the first hour though. I'm certain I shot Vulcan down, P-40 flying straight as an arrow....

dmdchief that is done by the Admin CM who is the guy that designed the event. This month it was Baumer and he will post up the score total for all the frames in just a few days. Takes these guys a while to pour over the logs and double check everything. :)

Ya know...you never really appreciate what goes into an FSO until you are a CO that is assigned being the CiC for a frame...and that's on a number of levels.

baumer, our Axis leader for FSO for November, was/is a GREAT example of just how much one person takes time out of his work/home/family life to devote to a cause that hundreds of people who play this game and do FSO for their enjoyment--that almost goes unthanked for them.  I'm sure it's probably safe to say it's the same for Allied planners. 

I was the CiC for the Axis forces in frame 3 and was highly worried that I would screw it up.  Sure, I've planned and led thousands of missions before in MA, but planning the entire attack and defence for an FSO so all squads would be fairly treated with fair and ballanced orders for all was daunting!  As a CiC, you want EVERYONE who shows up and flies for your side to be successful and have fun. 

baumer took the time to answer multiple frantic emails from me and took the time out of his home life to take lengthy phone calls from me so I could get it right.  One call, baumer was "indisposed" and I spent a few very rewarding minutes talking to his lovely other-half while she held their 16 month old child--cooing and giggling in the background.  That's a part of FSO that very few people get to experience...the person-to-person part. 

I have been to many FSO's, and like the old Southern expression "the perverbial pig under the acorn tree"...never fully appreciating the hard work, research, communication, and real time out of their daily lives it took to put things together so that 600 players can have a realistic, organized, FUN experience for an hour three fridays a month.  Like the pig, I never ever looked up to see where that fun came from.  Now, I will.

Even after reading the "8 Steps To Being A CiC" (EVERY FSO CO should read that--twice) it was baumer's experience and advice that was key to helping me provide fair and ballanced orders to all Axis squads, based on research he advised me to do on all Axis squads--not only on their past FSO assignments, strengths and weaknesses but researched MA strengths and weaknesses.

THANK YOU baumer, daddog, and all other FSO planners, researchers, and those who take time out of their busy work and home lives to provide all the background work and efforts so that 600+ people can look forward to and have fun for an hour on Friday nights.

I only post this because if I was not fully grateful for all the efforts they do before this week--I'm sure there are others that need to be aware.
