Need a good DVD decoder.

I use K-lite, free, even though I paid for InterVideo.  IV won't work on my computer for some reason, I think it's a conflict somewhere, if you want to try I'd be willing to let ya use the code.  Iv and K-lite both work perfectly from what I've found, when I can get IV working anyways. :)

DVDfab  will decode and copy almost any DVD or BlueRay disk

I prefer the FREE VideoLan VLC media Player ---> www.videolan.org

has all kinds of options/features/functions

can play anything CVD, DVD, etc.. or any other type of codec/movie type......


or you could try this Free DVD decoder/DVD on PC player
http://www.cliprex.com/


if you want to do other things, might want to get "anyDVD" and "ConvertXtoDVD"  along with something like DVDdecrypter  or DVDshrink ( spelling?  ShrinkDVD? )

also update your codecs on your PC for both audio & video  ( encoders & decoders )

I most times use K-Lite Mega Codec Pack <---it's FREE also

I don't think it's a matter of 'cant' so much, as a matter of 'wont'.

I firmly believe that MS is so embedded into this whole DRM thing, that they are afraid to play movies (and risk being 'responsible' for illegal copies) that they just passed the buck to third party software altogether...

Dvd viewing software should have come with the Dvd Drive that you bought for that machine.

PowerDVD is the one I see most often. Although Windows media player should also work but it might need a codec.
In the past I've used the Videolan player as well as the Real Alternative player with good results.

For doing anything else, get yourself a good double layer burner, a stack of DL disks, and IMGBurn.

I did run DVDFab for a couple years and it worked fine until stuff started coming out on DL disks.
Since then I've tried most of them, and have not been 100% happy with any of them.

I use VLC because it will both just play thing and will allow you to get deep into settings and tweak things on the rare occasion it doesn't work, whereas WMP just says "This doesn't work" and sits.

I still use WMP for music and WMV  files, but everything else goes through VLC.

If you have an internet connection you have about 100 free players to choose from. So not a problem.

I'm always leary of which website to use. I looked some up and I don't recognize the websites.
